We recently celebrated Vaisakhi at The Mount, bringing together staff, service users, carers and members of the local community for an afternoon of faith, culture and connection.
Vaisakhi is one of the most significant festivals in the Sikh tradition, marking renewal, community and service. The celebration offered an opportunity to learn, reflect and share experiences, while recognising the importance of faith, identity and belonging within our Trust.
The event included Sikh prayers (kirtan) accompanied by harmonium, a traditional Giddah dance performance, a talk on Sikh beliefs and the meaning of Vaisakhi, and light refreshments kindly prepared by members of the Sikh community. We were also delighted to mark the launch of A Guide for Chaplaincy to Dharmic Faiths by Dr Satwant Kaur Rait, our Volunteer Sikh Chaplain.
One attendee shared: “I was so proud of our Trust for recognising and celebrating Vaisakhi. Having a sense of belonging at work is so important – this really meant a lot.”
Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a warm, inclusive and uplifting celebration. You can read more on our website link in comments
