You know that delicious iced coffee you love? Well, we have a way for you to enjoy it guilt-free! 😉

1. Take a large glass and fill it with ice
2. Make up a meal replacement shake from your daily Plan allowance.
3. Extra water will make the drink last longer and give you a consistency closer to a latte.
4. Make up a ‘shot’ of coffee in a mug: 1 tsp of coffee, plus a good splash of water; stir until totally dissolved
5. Pour shake over ice
6. Pour coffee over shake

Recently there has been a fantastic announcement following the Diabetes UK Conference where the NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme was unveiled. This programme provides a low-calorie, total diet replacement regime for those living with Type 2 Diabetes and obesity, to help them lose weight and become healthier, as well as potentially reverse their condition.

The results so far have been incredibly positive, showing that out of those who completed the programme:

• They had lost an average of two and a half stone

• 27% of the patients had reversed their Type 2 Diabetes

The Path to Remission programme is based on 2 studies: The Diabetes UK-funded “DiRECT” trail and the DROPLET trial.

Gut health is having its moment and we’re here for it. After all, various studies and research have revealed that having a happy gut is a crucial part of feeling and being healthier.
In this article, we’re diving head first into the world of the gut, exploring everything you need to know and discovering six key steps you can take to improve your gut health.


Ok, first thing’s first, why does gut health matter?
It all comes down to your gut microbiome and how it’s linked to your overall wellbeing.
For a start, 70-80% of our immune system can be found in our gut, with better gut health said to result in fewer sick days.
Secondly, a healthy intestinal lining is crucial when it comes to absorbing all the goodness you eat. You could be eating the healthiest meals, full of vitamins and nutrients, but without a healthy intestinal lining, you’ll be unable to absorb any of the good stuff.
Long story short: a healthy gut = improved overall wellbeing.

What is gut microbiome?
Basically, it’s a name for the 1000s of bacteria and microorganisms that live inside the gut. Initially, the gut microbiome is influenced by how we’re born, for example, if a baby is delivered by caesarean section, they’ll have a microbiome similar to their mother’s skin.
From then onwards, your gut microbiome continues to grow and change based on what you eat and the environment you live in. So, if you have a diet that’s enriched with fibre and plenty of fruit and veg, you’ll likely have a healthy and thriving gut microbiome. If you tend to eat high-sugar foods with little variety, you might be setting your gut up for failure.

What are the signs of an unhealthy gut?
There are so many elements of everyday life that can affect your gut and its microbiome. From high stress to taking antibiotics, just small changes can negatively impact your overall gut health.

Weight loss isn't a straight line, humans aren't perfect, and neither of those things are required for you to be successful.

What a transformation! Alan has lost an incredible 12 stone with The 1:1 Diet and is now much healthier, fitter and no more health concerns! From huffing and puffing on short walks to climbing Ben Nevis with his son.

"When I reached 70 I realised how heavy I had become and didn’t feel great. I had not been sleeping well as I never felt comfortable in bed. My knees were really sore due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and on occasions I could hardly put one foot by another.

My energy levels dropped quite low and I felt like I was just getting through each day. Back in 2002 I had a heart attack but even that wasn’t enough for me to change my bad habits permanently. There must be something more to life than merely existing and I was determined to find it.

I heard about The 1:1 Diet from a friend, and then I found my amazing Consultant Lynn who was so supportive. There and then I decided I wanted my life back.

Fast forward and I had lost 11 stone in the space of a year! BUT I wasn’t done yet, I moved up the Steps gradually increasing my fitness and now weigh in at 11st 6lbs, with a BMI of 21.1. I have been maintaining my weight loss every since.

I now walk up to 12k in the morning before breakfast. I’ve joined a local gym to tone and build muscle strength. I’m now living life to the full doing things I’ve always wanted to do such as a bi-plane flight (a Father’s Day gift from my proud daughter!) with no worry about the weight restrictions. Having exhausted climbing all the hills locally I completed my biggest challenge yet... BEN NEVIS!

Goodbye to the Blue Badge as I have given it back to the Council and I’m not needing it again. I am a much happier person having been on The 1:1 Diet."

Well done to you all for deciding that the food party has finally ended and now is the time to clean up the diet, by treating yourself to a nutritionally complete plan, that involves no junk or alcohol.

Remember just how good you feel after only 3-4 days back on plan?

Sunny weather means healthy BBQs and how about this sweet treat!

1:1 Diet Apple and Strawberry Oat Cheesecake

Ingredients
½ Apple and Strawberry Oat Bar or Strawberry and Apple Yoghurt Bar
½ Strawberry Shake or Cherry and Strawberry Smoothie
2 teaspoons of Mix-a-Mousse
100mls water
(200 cals per dessert)
Directions
🍨Chop and crumble the bar into little pieces am push to the bottom of a glass or dish.
🍨 Make up your Shake or Smoothie with your water and mix-a-mousse.
🍨 Pour the mousse mix over your crumbled bar.
🍨 Set in the fridge for 10 - 15 minutes.
🍨 Enjoy!

Your dessert may differ to these photos depending on what shake you use or if you top with cherries of course!

"Back in June 2022 I started The 1:1 Diet and within 3 months I lost 2st 8.5lbs by following Step 2. I absolutely fell in love with the plan 💕 I'd never turn to another diet as this one is convenient, there isn’t a product I don’t love and the losses are quick and effective!

Craig and I planned our wedding in 5 weeks whilst trying to lose weight. I was 100% on plan, super strict and did not want to look back and say ‘I could have done better’, our wedding photos are what we will look back on forever. So in 4 weeks I lost 13lbs!!

I felt confident, my dress felt amazing on me and I wouldn’t have been able to lose as many lbs as I did if I didn’t do The 1:1 Diet."
