Such wonderful words for our incredible co founder and instructor Bee In the Lotus Kundalini Yoga Studio. 💫🫶
It's been a hell of a couple of weeks here & I'm so grateful to February Charlotte for doing March Charlotte a solid and booking the sold-out March Soundbath at Bee In the Lotus Kundalini Yoga Studio last night. I feel like my nervous system has been removed, power washed, wrung out & lovingly popped back into my body. I feel shiny, bright, new, restored. It was absolute magic.
Emma welcomed us to the stunning studio The Mind Body Space, cosy, warm, inviting...and started us off with an invitation to small movement - essential for me as an AuDHDer as my brain doesnt just switch off just because I've booked something nice! The projectors were such a visual stim & I was deeply relaxed before we ever started the sound. I took a warm IronBrew tea from the shop (chock full of vits and minerals) and a hot water bottle to place over my kidneys, giving extra restoration to my tired adrenal glands.
Then the sound started, and what a treat! A complete sensory cocoon of layered sound, like nothing I've ever experienced but it felt so familiar at the same time? It felt like the music that the planets make. If you're an astrologer you'll know what I mean!!
The whole thing was extraordinary. As an introvert I need a lot of thinking time in order to be happy - with Maeve being poorly I haven't had my yoga or my long walks where I normally process every day. In the sound bath, I was able to finish thoughts, follow a train of contemplation to its natural conclusion, and conclude decisions I'd been thinking about for months.
I felt the deep resonance of the gong physically move stuck emotion from my body, especially one area, which was the intention I set at the start. It was extraordinary - reminded me of how manual myofascial release works. Sound is truly therapy.
I was warm and so comfortable the entire time, the floor matresses Emma provides are a total gamechanger. At 37 I do not love lying on hard floors and can't relax when I'm cold, so this was perfect. I finished feeling rested and settled, calm and safe, and willing to live out the rest of my days in a sound bath!! Emma is extremely talented and both I and the friend I booked with have immediately booked for next month.
Get yourself to a sound bath, theyre incredible. Especially if youre AuDHD - you know it's next to impossible to get our poor brains to actually rest.
(Special mention to my other half who wondered why I wanted a bath bath 🛁 when I got in - she thought I was out doing some sort of public bathing ritual?! And didn't question it ?! Absolutely hilarious.)
