✨ Holding space this festive season ✨

For some, Christmas is full of light, laughter and connection.
For others, it can feel quiet, heavy or overwhelming.

At SkillBase First Aid, we’re holding space for:

🤍 Those grieving someone they love
🤍 Those facing their first Christmas without a familiar face
🤍 Those feeling lonely in a season that centres “togetherness”
🤍 Those navigating difficult family dynamics
🤍 Those living with anxiety, low mood or emotional overwhelm
🤍 Those under financial, work or caregiving pressure
🤍 Those putting on a brave face for everyone else
🤍 Those who simply don’t feel festive — and that’s okay

Alongside holding space, we also hold hope.
Hope lives in small moments, quiet check-ins and people choosing to be there for each other.

Not everyone can reach out when they’re struggling.
So this Christmas, let’s make the effort to reach in.

📞 A message.
☕ A coffee invite.
💬 A “how are you — really?”

Sometimes that’s all it takes to remind someone they matter.

If you or someone you know needs extra support:

Being present, listening and holding space can make more difference than you realise.

We’re holding space for you — and for each other 💙

💚 Mental Health Awareness - Every Day 💚

Mental Wellbeing First Aid Trainer, Therapist and Coach, Tracey Dangerfield, shares her insight in this short new video: What is a mental health crisis? 💭

A mental health crisis can look different for everyone, it might be when someone feels overwhelmed, unable to cope, or when their usual ways of managing just aren’t working.

Knowing how to recognise the signs and respond with empathy can make all the difference. ✨

World Mental Health Day may have passed, but these conversations matter every day.

🎥 Watch Tracey’s video to learn more - and stay tuned for the next one: What to do in a mental health crisis.

💚 Today is World Mental Health Day.

A moment to pause, reflect, and check in - with others, and with yourself.

It can be as simple as:
✨ “How are you, really?”
✨ Taking a breather between meetings
✨ Reaching out for a chat
✨ Giving yourself permission to rest

Because every conversation counts.
Every act of kindness helps.
And every day is mental health day. 🌍

Let’s keep the check-ins going, today and every day. 💬

🌍 World Mental Health Day 🌍

Mental Wellbeing First Aid Trainer, Therapist and Coach, Tracey Dangerfield, shares an important reflection in this video, all about the power of listening before signposting.

When someone opens up to us about their mental health, our first instinct might be to direct them elsewhere, to a GP, a charity, or a helpline. But sometimes, what they need most in that moment is us. 💚

As Tracey explains, jumping straight to signposting can unintentionally send the message:
“the help is over there - not here.”

Instead, we can make a huge difference simply by holding space, listening with empathy, and giving someone the chance to talk. When the time feels right, we can gently explore options together and empower them to take their next step.

Because sometimes, being that first listening ear is the most powerful form of support.

🎥 Watch Tracey’s video to hear her thoughts on why active listening matters, not just on , but every day.

🌍 World Mental Health Day 🌍

Mental Wellbeing First Aid Instructor, John Cappellar, shares a powerful reflection in our new video, 'Behind Closed Doors'.

On a long dog walk, John exchanged pleasantries with around 100 people. Later, he remembered the statistic that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year, meaning up to 25 of those smiling faces might have been struggling behind closed doors.

So today, take a moment to check in on a friend, family member, or colleague. Be a listening ear. Activate those hero empathy skills.
A simple conversation could make all the difference.

We believe in raising awareness not just on , but every day.
Let’s keep talking. Let’s keep caring. 💚

We’re proud to be a little bit different

Emergencies happen.

On ordinary days, for ordinary people, life can change in a heartbeat.

In a heartbeat, it’s three o’clock in the morning and your neighbour is frantically knocking on your door because their toddler has stopped breathing and is turning blue.

In a heartbeat, you’re driving home from work, a cyclist has been knocked over and may have life-changing injuries, he’s someone’s Dad and someone’s partner.
