Dear Albert

Dear Albert Hello, this is a recovery community page where people interested in recovery can connect. Please share our posts & connect. We are service user focused. groups.

A Social Enterprise run by service users /ex service users in recovery from alcohol & other drugs. Promoting, mainly, abstinence from all mind altering substances. Our main aim is to facilitate individuals onto their own recovery pathway. Making recovery inclusive not exclusive. There is no ‘one size fits all’ and we’re here to signpost, help & guide those seeking recovery from substance misuse towards a better way of life. Integrating service users in the delivery of various different ventures. Our main focus at the moment is a group called ‘ YOU DO THE MAF’s ( Mutual Aid Facilitation sessions). Giving service users titbits from various different M.A. Bridging the gap between policy and practise we will even take SU’s to meetings and other recovery focused outings. Involving service users in setting up the group, training in running of sessions. Professionals and uni students are also members of the group as we would like to help everyone ( professionals / service users) understand, amongst other things, what mutual aid groups are, their benefits, the myths etc. ASK FOR MORE INFORMATION ON * YOU DO THE MAF’s * our recovery advocacy group
We’ve already instigated, in conjunction with UK recovery walk, UK Recovery Federation. Leicester Recovery Partnership, a successful showing of *THE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE* in the Phoenix cinema, Leicester. Bringing together lots of ppl to discuss the stigma attached to addiction. DEAR ALBERT has other avenues to explore in which service users, and those interested in recovery , can get involved and help themselves to reach the SMART goals they’ve set .More will be revealed in the near future. One of the most important attributes to sustaining recovery from substance abuse has been proven to be positive social networks (for every 1 person I know, I’m 21% more likely to come into recovery). That is another aim of DEAR ALBERT, helping service users connect with others in recovery. Helping individuals into volunteering, training and paid employment. Come be a part of Leicester’s growing recovery community and link with others from ALL over the UK.
