It was with sadness that I share the news of the passing of Councillor Manjula Sood MBE.

Manjulaji was a very friend and support of the devotees and champion of the work of ISKCON Leicester. She was a keen campaigner for the setting up of Krishna Avanti Primary School.

She also loved celebrating the Rathayatra festival, which her late husband (who was also a councillor) had supported getting the permissions some 34 years ago.

Manjulaji served as a Councillor in Belgrave, Abbey and more recently in Stoneygate. She was also Assistant City Mayor in the Council and became the first Indian woman in the UK to hold the position of Lord Mayor in 2008.

May Radha Madhava bless her onward journey and receive her in Their eternal service.

Hare Krishna
Your servant,
Pradyumna das

Radha Madhava darshan 🦜

ā€œJust like a ripened fruit in the tree is already very sweet, and if it is touched by the beak of the parrot, it becomes sweeter. These are natural course. If the parrot touches the fruit, he cuts little by his beak, beak... It is called beak? Then it becomes still sweeter. Śuka-mukhād drava-saṁyutam.
Similarly, ŚrÄ«mad-Bhāgavatam is already sublime, transcendental. And when it is spoken through the mouth of Śukadeva GosvāmÄ«, it becomes still sweeter, just like the fruit. The parrot is also called śuka. It is called śuka-pakį¹£i, śuka bird. So this comparison is given.
As the fruit becomes still sweeter by the touch of the beak of the parrot, similarly, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, because it is already spoken by Vyāsadeva, ripened fruit, the experienced contribution of Vyāsadeva, all the Vedic literatures, but when it is spoken through the paramparā system of Śukadeva Gosvāmī, it becomes still sweeter.
- Srimad-Bhagavatam

Just like eyes. When it is suffering from the disease, cataract, you cannot see properly. But the... if the, by surgical operation, the cataract is moved, the eyes become purified; you can see. That is also stated in Brahmā-saṁhitā:

premāƱjana-cchurita bhakti-vilocanena
santaįø„ sadaiva hį¹›dayeį¹£u vilokayanti
yam śyāmasundaram acintya-guṇa-svarÅ«paṁ
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi

[Bs. 5.38]

PremāƱjana-cchurita.Ā You have to collect the ointment of love for Kṛṣṇa. And if you apply that ointment on your eyes, then... Just like we useĀ surmaĀ for clear vision, similarly, when the love of KṛṣṇaĀ surmaĀ is applied on the eyes, these eyes, you’ll see Kṛṣṇa. This is the process.

(Srila Prabhupada Lecture: Nectar of Devotion,Ā October 26th,Ā Vį¹›ndāvana)

ISKCON UK Reclaims Historic London Roots Through Acquisition of 7 Bury Place, the first Radha Krishna Temple

London, 25 November 2025: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is thrilled to announce that it has successfully acquired 7 Bury Place, the site of its original London temple in an auction held today.
This landmark building close to the British Museum in London’s Bloomsbury area holds deep historical and spiritual significance. It was here, in December 1969, that A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, ISKCON’s Founder–Acarya, formally inaugurated the London’s first Radha-Krishna temple and installed Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara.

A Historic Homecoming
7 Bury Place was the very heart of ISKCON’s beginnings in the UK. The property was secured in the late 1960s with the help of well-known supporters and served as a base for Prabhupada’s early work in London.
The building which witnessed Srila Prabhupada’s first London visit was part funded by Beatle George Harrison who was also a co-signee on the original lease.
It was from 7 Bury Place that ISKCON devotees recorded the iconic Radha Krishna Temple album in collaboration with George Harrison.

ā€œThis is a full-circle moment,ā€ said Praghosa Das, GBC, ISKCON UK. ā€œTo reacquire 7 Bury Place is to reclaim our spiritual birthplace in the UK. Our hope is to transform it once again into a living, breathing centre of Krishna consciousness, an ISKCON tirtha, place of pilgrimage for devotees who have only read about ISKCON’s heritage and the pioneering work of the original devotees who established Krishna consciousness in the UK.ā€
ISKCON London, also known as the Radha-Krishna Temple, traces its roots to 1968, when Srila Prabhupada sent three American couples to establish a mission in the UK. Though the congregation later moved to a new premises on Soho Street (where the current London temple stands), 7 Bury Place remains central to its origins.
