Waking up with numbness in your hand?

It could mean that you have symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Often when we sleep, we have our wrists in a flexed position, and overnight this compresses the median nerve on the front of your wrist. Knowing this, try modifying your sleeping position to allow your wrist to stay in a neutral position throughout the night.

If symptoms persist for more than 1 week or if they are combined with any other symptoms, then make sure to book to see a healthcare professional for more information and advice.

Why Strength Training is a Runners Best Friend

Take a look at this image which shows how much force is placed through your body whilst running. If you're thinking of taking up running this winter, it's equally as important to start with some strength training alongside this to stop injuries from happening.

Simple exercises such as:
Weighted Heel Raises
Single Leg Squats
Lunges

Are great ways to keep your lower body strong enough to support yourself whilst running. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee to injury free, so if you do need advice, come and see one of our Physio's at Leigh Therapy Centre.
