Our college students are on their way home after an unforgettable residential experience ✨

They have embraced every challenge, tried so many new and exciting activities, and truly stepped outside their comfort zones. It’s been amazing to see their independence grow, their confidence shine, and their communication skills flourish.

These experiences go far beyond the trip itself supporting personal development and contributing to individual targets, including their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Our Orrell students had an amazing time at the Careers Fair Recruitment Event at The Edge in Wigan! 🌟🌟🌟

They heard inspiring presentations from Digital Wigan and Adult Learning, giving them valuable insight into the support and opportunities available locally.

Students also met potential future employers, asked great questions, and discovered more about different career paths and the entry requirements needed to get started.

A fantastic experience that helped our young people explore their next steps and grow in confidence about their future pathways. Well done to everyone who took part! 👏

📚 Throwback to World Book Day

We’re taking a moment to look back at some of the activities our students enjoyed during last week’s World Book Day.

Students explored The Twits by Roald Dahl, listening to a reading from the story and watching a short clip from the Netflix adaptation. The session focused on describing the character of Mr Twit and discussing his famously messy beard.

To bring the story to life, students took part in a sensory exploration activity where they investigated a range of food items that might be found hiding in Mr Twit’s beard. This hands-on experience supported communication, curiosity and descriptive language.

The session finished with a creative task where students designed their own “messy” Mr Twit beards using a variety of materials, imagining what unusual items might be hidden inside.

A fun and engaging way to celebrate reading while developing creativity, communication and sensory exploration. 📖🌟

Another day, another inspirational guest speaker! 🌟

Today we were delighted to welcome into the college Kelly Jones, from Runshaw College, who spent time with our students sharing what life is like at Runshaw College and offering valuable advice and guidance about future pathways.

A particularly meaningful part of the visit was hearing from our Employability Pathway students, who confidently presented their own college experiences to Kelly. They spoke about their curriculum, work experience, future destinations and what they love most about college.

It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Kelly shared that she had a very wholesome visit and was extremely impressed with the communication skills and independence of our students. 🤓🤩🌟

A huge well done to all the students who took part and represented their journeys so positively! 👏
