Each quarter we award those in the business who have gone above and beyond for their colleagues, and have been awarded the most kudos by their colleagues! A true way of everyone saying thank you 👏

This quarter saw a double award, thanking Summa Millborrow Rowland and Abbi Cadman in our Operations Administration department. Summa for her ability to support our trainers with their IT issues surrounding online course delivery, and for learning so quickly in her now role with C&C.

Abbi for her learning and dedication to her role, also achieving Kudos for supporting with the ever increasing volume of incoming calls, queries from delegates in our busy Bury St Edmunds centre - and generally working exceptionally well as a team.

Well done Summa & Abbi, a truly deserved award! 🏆

C&C Training is celebrating our own apprentice during National Apprenticeship Week!

Abbi Cadman is currently undertaking her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship and doing fantastically.

Since joining the C&C Training team back in April, Abbi has been learning about how a business runs, the importance of high quality customer service, engagement with stakeholders, compliance & law. Abbi has been completing her assignments alongside her day-to-day work as a Centre Administrator, and we have seen her confidence and skills grow day by day.

Abbi's manager Teresa Moody said: "Watching Abbi progress through her apprenticeship has been really rewarding. She already came into the role with professionalism, and the apprenticeship has helped her build on that by developing her skills and confidence in practice. Abbi's performance so far reflects the standard she sets for herself and the depth of her understanding. Abbi is a great example of how apprenticeships support real development in the workplace.".

Abbi: "Doing my apprenticeship alongside my work at C&C Training been extremely helpful. It's helping me understand how C&C works beyond surface level and how my role impacts the wider business.

It’s also a great way to learn: it's not very time-consuming with only 1 or 2 Teams meetings a month - and with dedicated “off the job hours”, I'm able to get the tasks done. So far I have achieved distinctions in all my submissions!!"

All of us at C&C Training are very proud of Abbi and what she is accomplishing - and a lesson for us all in how valuable apprenticeship schemes in the workplace can be.

Did you know there are changes afoot with the NEBOSH National General Certificate qualifications?

If not, please see the changes that will take place from the 2nd February this year:
📍 The unit codes are changing from NG1 to GNC1, and NG2 to GNC2
📍 Unit 1 assessment remains the same (scenario-based), with new syllabus content from March 2026. Results will be published at the same time as Unit 2, so learners will receive both results on the same day
📍 Unit 2 will continue as a practical risk assessment - but with changes to submission, marking and results, as follows.

👉 GNC2 Submission: the learner will submit this unit in the same way as GNC1; via the NEBOSH online assessment platform. The deadline to submit this unit is 10 working days after the GNC1 assessment. There will be no on-demand assessments.

📝 GNC2 Marking: Marking will now be moved to a points-based marking system, rather than the old style of Met / Not Met, along with a mark breakdown document automatically issued to the learner. The pass mark will be 60%.

🗓️ Results: Both unit results will be issued on the same day, 60 days from from the GNC1 date

Those who have referred on Unit 1 or Unit 2 under the previous qualification will have until August 2026 to re-take the exam - after which they will be required to sit the new exams.

Why not give us a call to see how we can help with your NEBOSH requirements?!

5 Common Misunderstandings About the Building Safety Act

The Building Safety Act has been in force for some time now, yet we still see the same misconceptions causing risk, confusion and non-compliance.

Here are the top five misconceptions we encounter:

1️⃣ “It only applies to high-risk buildings”
2️⃣ “Fire safety is the only thing that matters”
3️⃣ “Competence just means qualifications”
4️⃣ “Responsibility can be delegated away”
5️⃣ “If no one’s asked for it, we’re probably fine”

The reality?

The BSA applies far more widely, places legal duties on named roles, and demands evidence of competence - not assumptions.

Getting these basics wrong is often where compliance problems begin.

👉 Over the next few weeks, we’ll be unpacking what the Act really requires, how to respond – and where to turn to achieve best practice.

Important update!

CITB is making to its grants and funding offer from 8 January 2026 in response to growing demand and a focus on sustainable and strategic support for the entire industry.

So, what’s changing?

Short Course Training
📍 Short course training will no longer be supported through the Grants Scheme apart from Plant Operations, Scaffolding and other specialist courses.
📍 Support will be delivered exclusively via Employer Networks
📍 Pre‑8 December bookings that are completed between 8 January and 31 March 2026 will be honoured where there is evidence provided of booking date to qualify for grant payment.

Booking Requirements
📍 Employers must contact their local adviser who will help them identify and book their training needs.

Funding via Employer Networks
📍 CITB will match fund 50% of eligible courses
📍 H&S in construction and associated courses will be supported at 30% of average market rate
📍 First Aid training will not be supported.

Qualification Grant Changes
📍 Attendance grants for long qualifications removed*
📍 Achievement grant of £600
📍 Level 7 qualifications no longer supported.
* This does not impact Level 7 Apprenticeships, or Scottish Advanced Craft Certifications which are SCQF Level 7 (equivalent to QCF Level 5.)

Large employers
📍 Will not be supported for any training via EN funding after 31 March 2026
📍 A new offer for large employers will be co-designed in early 2026 and launched from 1 April.

Here at C&C Training, we are committed to helping employers navigate this shift. As such, we're attending a provider workshop on the 17th December to find out all the details from the CITB - more to follow after that!
