Today is , and we want to shine a light on the everyday kindness of our HILS teams across all our services - from meals on wheels to our Community Hubs, from our Community Advocates, to our Health & Wellbeing services and beyond.

Every lunch delivered, every friendly chat at the hub, every phone-call or visit makes a difference. Kindness is the little things that build safety, connection and independence for the people we support. Our teams take the time to get to know our clients, and in turn are able to offer those little extras that can help make someone's day. Whether its remembering they were heading to their grandsons birthday party last time we saw them, asking how their roses are coming along in the garden, or even remembering that they don't like their peas touching their potatoes on the plate!

To our teams: thank you. For turning up, for listening, for caring. You are the heart of HILS.

And to our friends, supporters and local neighbourhoods: you too play a part in this ripple of kindness. Share a smile, say hello, hold the door, check in on someone today. It all matters.

Let’s keep spreading kindness - because together, we make our community a brighter place.

HILS attended the OPALS (Older Persons Activity Learning and Safety) event today at the Adeyfield Community Centre, Hemel Hempstead. We provided meals and desserts and information on Activing Aging, Nutrition, Advocacy and of course meals on wheels. It was lovely to be there and listen to the insightful talks of other companies that also provide supportive services like HILS.

In our efforts to keep mealtimes exciting and delicious, we recently invited COCO LABELLE to deliver a food tasting of their amazing range of lifestyle and cultural dishes!

Our team had a brilliant time sampling their creations (all in the name of research, of course 😉) and we can’t wait to bring some fresh flavours to our cultural foods menu.

Just one of the many perks of the job! 😋

Today we remember.
At 11am, we pause to honour all those who have served, sacrificed, and stood for peace.
We remember the courage of those who gave their lives, and the strength of those who continue to serve today.

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of all those who have served and continue to serve our country.

We remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom, and we think of their families, loved ones, and communities who carry their legacy forward.

At 11am, we’ll join the nation in a moment of silence - to reflect, to give thanks, and to remember.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.” ❤️

A Royal Moment for HILS during Meals on Wheels Week!

Wednesday was a truly memorable day for our team as our CEO, Sarah Wren OBE, had the incredible honour of meeting Her Majesty The Queen at Clarence House in London.
The visit was part of Meals on Wheels Week 2025, celebrating the vital work of those who deliver nutritious meals and companionship to older and vulnerable people across the UK.
Sarah was joined by Neel Radia, National Chair of the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) , and Karl, one of our amazing meals on wheels drivers, who shared insights from life on the road and the importance of connecting with the people we serve every day.
Her Majesty spoke warmly to attendees about the importance of tackling loneliness and ensuring older people receive the nutrition, care, and companionship they deserve.
We are so proud of Karl, Sarah, and everyone who makes HILS meals on wheels possible.
📖 A full write-up will be shared soon on our website — stay tuned!

We're back with more meals on wheels week content!

For Friday Friends we’re dreaming big… If you could invite anyone – past or present – to your dream dinner party, who would it be?

Our Friday Friends know it’s not just about the food – it’s about connection, conversation, and laughter around the table. Whether it’s a celebrity, a local hero, or a family member you’ve always wanted to catch up with, there’s nothing like a shared meal to bring people together.

💬 Tell us in the comments – who would be at your dream dinner party?

And remember, our meals on wheels Community Team Members are delivering more than meals – they’re delivering friendship, wellbeing, and that caring visit every day.

More than just a meal – it’s a lifeline!

Since its Friday Friends, its a perfect time to talk social eating.

Our lunch clubs at HILS Community Hubs are about so much more than enjoying a hot, nutritious meal – they’re about connection, friendship, and wellbeing. And did you know we also provide food for other local lunch clubs, helping communities across the county bring people together around the table?

By joining a lunch club, older adults can:
✨ Meet new people and make friends
✨ Stay active and engaged in their community
✨ Enjoy a nutritious meal in a welcoming environment
✨ Benefit from regular social interaction, which is great for mental health

Sharing a meal can brighten a day and help people feel less isolated.

Interested in having HILS provide food for your lunch club or group? Get in touch today to find out how we can help! Visit our website, or call us to find out more.
