We are a small batch distillery. We make completely natural scents, creams and balms from flowers, bark, leaves, roots, blossom and moss that we pick in the fields, mountains and gardens that we love. Our work is a conversation with the plants. We grow, harvest and forage for our own and then distil, refine and transform their essence into singularly lovely natural scent and nourishing skincare.

I always find the final wait for Spring just a bit too long, so in recent years I’ve created my own Spring in my home. This year I’ve got the kitchen table adorned with Hyacinths, Snowdrops and loads of Daffodils. It smells so lovely and when the beeswax candles are lit in amongst it, it feels so uplifting. My friend Anne used to call doing this creating an island of loveliness and so it is. If you’re craving the new growth, it takes 5 minutes.

I’ve been writing about Fucus in our Friday Newsletter - it’s one of our most important ingredients and it is plentiful all across the Western Isles. We pick it fresh as we need it in small bunches without damaging the hold fast, 5 minutes from my home. It hydrates, firms, and protects the skin. It increases collagen and elastin production, neutralises free radicals, and reduces skin-damaging enzymes. It’s a real beauty.

I seem to be increasingly asked what I use on my own skin - it varies but these 4 products I use every day. At night I cleanse with the Cleansing Balm because I love an oil cleanser and it leaves my mature skin feeling supple and clean, then I spritz with the Isle Mist for hydration and sheer joy and then I finish with just 2 drops of the Timeless Beauty Serum - it is velvety soft and so enriching. It makes my skin feel wonderful.
In the morning I often just use warm water, then the Mist and finally the Wild Beauty Balm to lock in hydration, offer protection, nourish and leave my skin looking dewy and healthy . It’s simple but incredibly effective. I’m nearly 62 and very very happy in my skin.

Our Story

We are unique in the world of skincare. We are a small batch distillery making natural scents, creams, aromatic waters and balms from flowers, bark, leaves, roots, blossom and moss that we grow or pick wild in the fields, mountains and gardens that we love in Sussex, Cyprus and Scotland. Our business has grown from a particular way of being, of gathering and noticing. It’s a slow, meditative process, a precise art that has been passed from hand-to-hand drawing on the alchemy of intuition and the wisdom of generations of healers, travellers and makers. We like to think that each small pot carries something subtly transformative - a vitality that comes from working with the seasons and harvesting by hand at just the right time; each one has the defining characteristics of a particular harvest, a singular moment. It’s important to us to really understand the language of smell and sensation. Scent is immediate, arresting, elusive and comforting. Like music, the notes of a scent, evoke memory, pull us back to particular places and speak to our emotions. We think that the best products capture the vitality and spirit of place within them. So many of us are separated from nature - our own nature and the rhythms of the natural world. For us, it’s all about the plants, community, environment and an appreciation of the inter-connectedness of us all. We hope that our products have a subtle, nurturing influence on body, mind and spirit and that everything that we make is a gentle catalyst for reconnection.
