Over the weekend, Senior Engagement Officer Emmy was at PNE for the Younger Persons’ Brunch and Beyond event!

This event was held for young people in Lancashire who are living with Parkinson's, providing an opportunity for information sharing, support discovery, and participation in activities focused on living with the condition.

Parkinson's disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. You can learn more about it here: https://bit.ly/3JXmSjG

Thank you Parkinson's UK Parkinson's UK North West for hosting this event💙

Engagement Officer Louise and Communications Officer Cora recently attended Preston College Freshers Fair to talk to staff and students about Healthwatch, local services and our ongoing projects.

This was also a fantastic opportunity to network with organisations like PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de , Street Pastors and Samaritans !🤝

The majority of feedback we receive is usually around GP services, and this was common at the freshers' fair. We heard from students about GP experiences, which were mainly positive, but some expressed that they struggled with securing a GP appointment, and the process involved long wait times on the phone📞

After the success of our Women’s Health Project earlier this year, we’re gathering information on men’s health and exploring the experiences, challenges, and priorities that shape men’s health and well-being.

Making changes to the service based on your feedback📣

After a recent visit to Ormskirk Hospital, Senior Engagement Officer Emmy heard various pieces of feedback, including some around the waiting facilities.

Patients expressed that when waiting for their appointments in some areas of the hospital, they had no choice but to wander around, as there were no seating options🪑

Since taking this to the Healthwatch quarterly meeting with Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Group, chairs have been installed for patients.

Ageing well can look different for those without an immediate support network or family🧑‍🦳👩‍🦳

It's important that services are ready to support these individuals as and when they need it.

If you think you may age without family, we want to hear from you so we can feed back to services about your needs and expectations💙

Have you considered your future needs when you get older? This can look different for everyone, and you may need people around you or services to support you.

We want to ensure that everyone has the right care to live a fruitful life as they age. For those without an immediate support network, this can be difficult.

If you live alone or don't have an immediate support group locally, please consider sharing your thoughts in our survey.
