2025, over and out👋

My name is Sue, I am a Senior Engagement Officer at Healthwatch Lancashire📣

In 2025, I have been most proud of organising a whole health and wellbeing event in Carnforth in January. I’d also say being in the Patient and Public Panel with Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) and being able to speak up for patients using services.

Engagement-wise, I really enjoyed the Bay Health Festival in Lancaster and the Communities Together Festival of Culture, Lancaster; these are the standout events of 2025 for me 😊

Saying goodbye to the year👋

My name is James, I am the Self Advocacy Team Leader at People First, and I work at the Leyland Office with the Healthwatch Lancashire team📣

One of my proudest moments this year was attending the "Stronger Together Awards" on September 24, 2025. The awards showcased the brilliant work happening across Lancashire with People with learning disabilities. The awards were co-hosted by two people with lived experiences, and the event was put together by the People First Independent Advocacy Inclusion Team and the Lancashire Learning Disability Partnership Board with support from Healthwatch Lancashire.

What should I do if my GP removes me from their practice?🏥

It's uncommon, but sometimes a GP practice may apply to remove patients from their list if the relationship between the patient and GP has broken down.

Which means you may have to find a new GP practice to continue your care🩺

2025 is almost over👋

My name is Steve, I am the Operations Manager for Healthwatch Lancashire and Cumbria📣

One thing that I am most proud of this year is the publication of the 'Our Voice in Health and Social Care: BSL Users' Report. This was a piece of work that opened our eyes up to the barriers that Deaf people face when accessing services, and it was greatly received by our partners at Lancashire County Council and the Integrated Care Board, who have pledged to take action on the recommendations we have made.

The first headline action was the recruitment of a dedicated Deaf Social worker to work with the community to help them with any issues they encountered.

The second headline action was that Healthwatch Lancashire have formed a partnership task and finish group with professionals from local NHS service providers, support charities, Lancashire County Council, and the integrated care board to work on the recommendations made in the report and to continue our mission to make improvements to services in Lancashire.
