Hello!! I kind of disappeared again a little bit but I thought it's time to update you. So for the last month I started working as Lecturer in nutrition and public health at the university of Westminster. I have always loved teaching and my workshops the past years have made that even more obvious to me. I also missed being the person behind the research than just discussing about research. Thus, I am very excited to be back in the academia!!! In the meantime, I have also kept doing webinars every single weekend and I feel very blessed that I can combine both! I can't wait to let you know about new research projects that I will be working on but also stay tuned for new workshops!!

I work with mothers and mothers to be everyday. Despite how they may be feeling, how tired, how stressed they may be they still spend time to evaluate how their kids' days was, how they are feeling, if they slept well or if they are well... True, everyday superheroes 🦸🏼‍♀️🦸🏻🦸🏽🦸🏾overcoming everything (even a pandemic this year) to support their children's needs. Happy Mother's Day to everyone! You are doing great! Your love is what makes everything perfect in the end of the day. ❤️

When you are responding to your baby's cues and signs of satiety and hunger, then you practice responsive feeding. Research shows that when the caregiver is responsive to the baby's needs there are less chances of becoming overweight and more chance to have a wider variety of tastes. Let's talk more about it tonight at my weaning workshop.

This year on World's Book Day I would like to focus on body positivity for children! There are not a lot of books celebrating all bodies in children's literature but here is some selection. We own her body can and it's beautifully written and illustrated. Coincidentally it is also week. With children as young as 3 being concerned about their body image it's so important to help our children appreciate their bodies for what they can do and not for how they look. ❤️

Did you know those first tastes may influence food preferences later in life? Also, baby who is allowed to self regulate its hunger and satiety has more chances to become a mindful eater later in life. Join me this Friday for an in depth discussion in weaning. Link in bio.

If I had to pick the one topic parents worry most is fussy eating! My daughter was also a fussy eater until recently. Fussy eating is often due to neophobia (the fear of new) which is a normal developmental stage. There are a few ways to overcome this but if I had to pick my top three tips they would be the following. 🎈 Provide people with the opportunity to familiarise through sensory play. Sensory play is a great way to get familiar with new shapes, textures and smells! Eventually they will try new flavours too.
🎈Keep mealtimes stress free, don't pressure children to finish their food and try to not show your frustration if they don't like the food. At the same time don't give in and offer alternatives. You decide what they eat, they decide if and how much.
🎈Do not use food as reward or punishment. Encourage trying but don't force them into finishing their main course in order to get to the pudding. Their meal instantly becomes a chore. Instead be their role model enjoy your meal together and try to have the varied, nourishing diet you wish your children to have.
I hope these short tips help! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions in the comments.
