Flying with Fibromyalgia: The Pain No One Sees.

Chronic pain and anxiety don't disappear at 30,000 feet.

For those with a hidden illness like Fibro or an Autoimmune Disease, travel is often a painful, stressful struggle.

I recently saw a passenger struggling just to get out of her seat—the distress was heartbreakingly real.

As a flight attendant and someone who personally manages Hashimoto's Disease (an autoimmune condition), I get it. I know what it’s like to carry a "dis-ease" that others can’t see, hear, or feel.

That’s why I specialise in helping those with invisible illnesses overcome their fear of flying.

The sessions I do one to one with you as a therapist give you the tools to take control back.

You don't need to choose between chronic pain management and the freedom to fly.

Autoimmune/Invisible Illness Warriors: I see you, I hear you, and I can help you reclaim your ease in the air.

Flying with Fibromyalgia? In fact doing anything with this chronic pain dis-ease is distressing!
It can take your purpose away in life as you suffer with the chronic pain, stress, anxiety and depression.

The mind and body aren't separate, remember, we need to treat both.
You can take your control back...

I did with the Hashimotos Dis-ease that I was diagnosed with,
Now I get to help other Autoimmune Disease sufferers to travel with inner calm, self-confidence, and to fly easy!
How cool is that?

Flying with Fibromyalgia is debilitating.
Chronic pain all over.

It's a hidden illness that you feel and is very real to you, but others can’t see.

Having just flown with a Fibro passenger who had suffered with this dis-ease for decades, I found, on engaging in a conversation with her, just how much she struggled to travel. Just getting out of her seat onboard was a stressful struggle. Her anxiety was plain to see. She was in her forties and in chronic pain and distress.

I resonated with this beautiful lady as it fell on my shoulders that we really don’t acknowledge symptoms that we can’t see, hear or feel.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover!” is an incredible metaphor that I truly understand, as I have Hashimotos Disease, I’m Hypothyroid. (I have an underactive thyroid.) Again, a dis-ease that is held by me as a Flight Attendant Therapist but not seen by my passengers.

But I just want you to know, Auto-immune Dis-Ease carriers…
I see you, I hear you, I feel you, and I will help in any way to make your flight more enjoyable because ‘every body’ matters.
Let's keep smiling...and thriving and proving we too can travel with ease.

Flight Attendant Widows...
Yes, Flight Attendants who become Widows, through no fault of their own, can either stay trapped and stuck, wanting to escape back to the world that no longer exists...

Or...

Those brave Flight Attendants Widows can move forward...

Moving forward isn’t about forgetting; it’s about honoring the wishes of our lost loved ones and creating a brighter future for ourselves and our bereaved children.

No one can truly understand a widow's journey without walking in those shoes—and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Time is precious.
Stress, anxiety, and fear shouldn’t hold us back forever.
By facing our hidden emotions and deciding to move forward, we open the door to change.

But should it hold us back for a lifetime? Or if we dealt with the emotions that we keep deeply hidden... We numb, we choose not to feel...

If we took a deep breath and decided enough is enough, and life must, life will, life has to get better?
Then change arrives...

I am a Widow and a Wife, and I define them; they don't define me...

He died in Greece…In Greek waters, and I haven’t flown to Greece since his passing in 2009.
The grief and loss have been too much to visit the beautiful islands of Greece yet.

But recently, I flew into HER, Crete, as a Flight Attendant, as this year I have returned to my beloved flying career.

What’s even scarier is that because I hadn’t focused on the Greek destination, I hadn’t recalled the deep loss and the Widow’s pain as to where I was flying to.
It wasn’t until turn-around that I realized…

OMG! I’m on Greek soil, where my first husband Carl passed away at the tragic age of 39 years young.

He lost his life to the Aegean Sea, whilst filming and leading an Expedition to the Britannic Shipwreck for the third time, the larger sister ship to the Titanic.

As I stood on the rear steps overlooking the ocean, the date hit me hard in the heart!
It was my son’s birthday, and I was overlooking the ocean that took his Daddy’s life when he was just 8 years young.

That moment took my breath away!
Just like the sea took Carl’s last breath away!

So, I paused…With tears in my eyes, I asked my fellow cabin crew member to take a photo of me and the sapphire blue Aegean waters behind me.

I wanted to share this moment, this momentous memory captured, with my son and daughter when I returned home…

“With love from the ocean.”

Now, our Flight Deck are very interactive with us Cabin Crew and are always checking in on us as much as we are always checking in on them. Our Mental Well-being is incredibly important. And because my Captain noticed my stillness, we chatted for a minute, and I went and had my photo taken in the flight Deck to solidify the memory of this life-changing flight in my mind.

The smile on that photo is real, it is raw, and most certainly very rewarding, as I think I can now return to Greece, to the island of Kea, to where my first husband Carl lost his life, and feel calm and at peace. The weight of Widowhood has been lifted.

Thank you, easyJet, for allowing me to return to my flying career, as it has felt for such a long time like a secondary loss to my Carl’s death after I had to stand down from my first time round, Flight Supervisor position. |The heavy weight of grief has been shifted, and I’ve been given my wings again…As a Therapist as well as a Flight Attendant, I know we need to feel to heal to move forward.

And today would have been our 28th Wedding Anniversary…
A note to oneself…Where there is deep grief, there had to be deep love to begin with.

A lot of people who have a fear of flying are terrified of the takeoff.

They don't like the feeling of the plane speeding down the runway, the dropping sensation as it lifts off, and being pushed back into their seat.

They also don't like the banking feeling as the plane turns.

If you think about it, a plane's takeoff is a lot like a car accelerating. When you're in a car at a stoplight, you need to speed up to get to cruising speed.

The same applies to a plane—it needs that speed to climb.

And just like a car turning left or right at an intersection, a plane also has to bank. This is especially important when we're trying to get out of the busy airspace surrounding an airport and get up and away as quickly as possible.

As a former Flight Supervisor, I have a vast understanding and knowledge of what flying entails.

I can help you understand the process and regain the confidence you need to overcome your fears.

Recently, our flight attendant training truly kicked in.

In a medical emergency, every second counts. As a crew, we moved as one—making a call for a doctor, grabbing our emergency kit, and keeping our flight deck updated.

I'm so proud of my colleagues.

Without a word, we knew exactly what to do. Our glances, hand signals, and body language were all we needed to communicate.

That kind of teamwork is priceless.

As someone with a background in teaching, I was able to use some simple techniques to connect with the passenger, asking them questions and playing small games to help them feel safe and comfortable.

Thankfully, we had the best possible outcome. No diversion, no emergency landing. We were able to comfort and care for the passenger.

This is what being part of the EasyJet team is all about—we are here to help, to work together, and to make sure every passenger can sit back, relax, and fly easy.

"Family holidays... unforgettable!" Except when the dread of the flight overshadows the entire trip.
Stop letting the 'fear of flying' steal your family's precious holiday memories.

If your "week-long vacation" is actually a stress-ridden 7-day countdown to the fearful flight home, you're not relaxing—you're just delaying the anticipatory anxiety.

That feeling of dread doesn't just ruin the outbound flight; it steals the days in between when you should be making incredible family memories.

But what if you could swap the dread for genuine excitement?
What if you could enjoy the flight, the holiday, and the memories?

That's what happens when you get the right, lasting help.

What's one memory your fear of flying has already cost you? Share in the comments!

Why should you work with me?

Do you struggle with fear of flying? As a flight attendant, I understand the anxieties that can arise.

I also live with Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disease, so I know the challenges of navigating invisible illnesses, especially navigating them when flying.

All of it combined has given me a deep understanding of the psychological and emotional factors at play both for fear of flying and autoimmune disease.

It allows me to offer a uniquely empathetic and understanding approach to helping you overcome your fear of flying and the underlying symptoms caused by invisible autoimmune disease.

So you're a person who loves planes and loves to fly, but you don't like the feeling of the plane dipping up and down.

That sensation might feel similar to being on a rollercoaster or in a lift.

You might even be a plane spotter, enjoying watching them in the sky, but you don't like being on board.

When your mind starts to focus on that uncomfortable sensation, it gets louder. What you focus on, you get more of.

Next time you're on a plane, I want you to concentrate on the fact that you love planes.

Redirect your thoughts to that love and appreciation.

By focusing on what you love about flying, you're helping your mind to change its focus and manage the uncomfortable sensations.

I've helped countless anxious flyers, and the one tool that always makes a difference isn't a magic word—it can be as simple as a breathing technique.

Breathing techniques like the 3-D breath, and it can help you find calm, even during the most turbulent moments.

When we're scared, our breathing gets quick and shallow. The 3-D breath does the opposite. It sends a message to your nervous system that you're safe and in control.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Place one hand on your belly, the other on your chest.

2. Inhale slowly through your nose, feeling your belly expand first.

3. Continue to inhale, letting your ribs widen and your chest rise slightly.

4. Exhale slowly, letting your chest, ribs, and belly fall.

This isn't just for flights!

Practice this technique at home, and it will become a natural reflex when you need it most. By taking control of your breath, you can take control of your anxiety.

I’ve created a 7 day audio programme with the powerful breathwork techniques, including 3D breathing.

The freedom to fly is waiting for you. Get your 7-day program for £10 at the link and let's Fly Easy.

Widowed and a wife, past, present and future are equally important to your happiness.

Making memories, is living in the present and enjoying every single second. It is so very important to do this in our daily lives. I love helping people to live their life to their fullest potential...."Waste time wisely!" is a favourite saying of mine as I became a young widow at the tender age of 37 years young. I had two bereaved children of 3yrs and 8yrs. Our lives devastatingly changed overnight from an extremely sudden, internationally known death of my first husband and the father of our two wonderful children. I know true pain, stress, anxiety and devastating grief, extremely well! I also know too well everything else that rides with these issues, such as financial stress, abrupt career change, anxiety, stress, confidence & self esteem issues, insomnia, weight issues and medical conditions. Then.... I found RTT and it changed my life! So much so that I trained in it! So if there is anything that is holding you back, stop, reach out and know that life can truly change for the better! RTT really does rapidly transform your life! Past, Present and Future are all equally important but we only have one life so we need to really live it! Enjoy every day! Take every opportunity! Truly breathe. Be kind to yourself! You deserve it! If there is anything blocking or stopping you doing this, let me help! I believe that we all should .....

“Inspire to Achieve and Achieve to Inspire."

Smiles; complete a family memory...….
