Rolfing Midlands

Rolfing Midlands Rolfing Structural Integration and Rolf Movement Rolfing was developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf over 50 years ago.

It is a form of hands-on manipulation and movement education which helps people to have better posture, fewer aches and pains, greater flexibility and more energy. Rolfing works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body. This is a holistic technique in that the changes in structure can impact the whole person on a physical, emotional and energetic level. Clients and practitioners have reported improvements in many conditions, after a series of Rolfing sessions. The primary aim of Rolfing is the improvement of structure, posture and movement. Therefore, any overall lack of well being that relates to these issues can be responsive to Rolfing. The improvement of structure through Rolfing is a process designed to benefit the whole person.

Why VOICE should be part of any health routine.

Singing could be one of the best bio-hacks you can access.

Humming, chanting and singing are known for example to improve your vagal tone. That’s a huge benefit to start. However if we follow the anatomy there is a really interesting added benefit that our anatomy is hinting at.

See how the vagus nerve sends a branch down to loop around the aorta of the heart? It then slings around and back up to the larynx.

Seems like an inefficient pathway to take, but if we look at some high school physics there could be a very good reason.

When an electric current flows through a conductor, it creates a magnetic field around the conductor.

The magnetic field forms a series of loops around the coil, often represented by lines of force.

It is highly unlikely in any case that there is not benefit to this setup.

In many cultures, chanting is deeply rooted in spiritual practices. It is considered a way to connect with the divine, seek spiritual enlightenment, or express devotion.

Places of worship are often built with principles of resonance.

Chanting in a group can create a powerful collective energy. The synchronized chanting of a mantra or prayer can create a sense of unity among participants. This shared energy can be palpable and is believed to amplify the individual and collective intentions of the group.

When toning the vagus nerve, there seems to be levels of benefits that can be achieved.

For example poor vagal tone can be associated with low thyroid and a hoarse voice due to the proximity of the nerve and gland.

Does singing help release thyroid hormones? That would be interesting.

The very first levels may be better gut health, breathing, and better energy levels. But when we learn to tone the back of the tongue during a full swallow motion, for example, vagal tone can be dramatically further engaged.

As control of breath and laryngeal muscles are engaged, the resonance of the voice seems to be able to harness a powerful magnetic source that can affect an entire crowd of people around you.

Does singing in the shower make you feel different in any way?

Did you know your body has its very own in-built de-stressing mechanism? 😱

It’s called the ✨ VAGUS NERVE ✨

The vagus nerve is the most influential nerve in our parasympathetic nervous system, which oversees a vast array of crucial bodily functions, including control of mood, immune response, digestion, breathing and heart rate. It is the primary pathway that your gut and brain communicate through!

When we stimulate the vagus nerve, it sends a message to our bodies that it’s time to relax, de-stress and go into repair and recover mode 🛌

There are a number of different things we can do to stimulate our vagus nerve such as:

✨ Singing🎤
✨ Cold showers 💦
✨ Yoga and exercise 🏃‍♀️
✨ Deep breathing and meditation
✨ Social connectedness 👭
✨ Probiotics
✨ Laugh often 😂
✨ Try acupuncture 🛌

"What's the matter, Rabbit?" asked Bear.
"I feel anxious... like the ground is falling away from under my feet," said Rabbit.
"What do you see around you?" asked Bear.
Rabbit paused, "...I see you, and the sky, the trees, flowers, birds and the grass."
"What do you hear?" asked Bear.
"Your voice, the birds singing, the rustling of the leaves as the breeze blows through, and the sound of the water flowing in the stream," said Rabbit.
"What can you smell and taste?" asked Bear.
"The flowers, and this lovely cup of tea you made for me," said Rabbit.
"Now... what do you feel?" asked Bear.
"The ground, solid beneath my feet," said Rabbit, "and love. I feel loved."

PLASTINATING DEEP FASCIA 1/3
5cm Cross Section of the Leg

The plastinates you see here are the deep fascia from 5cm cross sections of the anatomical leg at mid-calf level. You can see two bones present: the tibia and the smaller fibula. The skin and superficial fascia have been removed from the exterior and the muscle tissue has been painstakingly removed using tweezers and scalpel, just a few fibers at a time, in efforts to preserve the encompassing fascia cruris and internal septa. What remains are the primary fascial compartments of the lower leg as well as the neurovascular bundle which you can see as small, hollow tubes in the center. These plastinates beautifully demonstrate the complexity and structure of the 3D fascial system.
