⭐️ Highly recommend a trip to Ryman’s pumpkins Lichfield for a really wonderful few hours of Halloween fun! We had a fabulous time there yesterday picking pumpkins, toasting marshmallows, playing games, drinking incredible hot chocolates and eating treats (The Cake Spa stuffed cookies were DIVINE! 🍪)

Plus, bumped into lots of scrummy Little Storkers with their littles which was a highlight!! 👶🏼

🙃 A D V I C E 🙃

Let’s face it, when you’re pregnant people always have something to say. Sometimes it’ll be positive, almost always well meaning but all too often it can be unsolicited, hurtful even harmful 🫠

What nuggets of wisdom did you receive during pregnancy/post partum that were

1. Amazingly helpful!
2. Down right ridiculous?

Let me hear them 👇🏼

💥 K N O W L E D G E I S P O W E R 💥

Just watching the ITV evening news and there was a piece on pain relief options during birth particularly the fact that women feel they don’t have enough knowledge about their options before they have their babies 🤯

Obviously, as an antenatal educator I know the power in knowledge around all birth choices, especially when it comes to the various different pain relief options on offer during your birth 🙌🏼

Birth is a transformative experience that can shape the rest of your life (dramatic, but so true!) so being equipped with the information and tools to allow you to navigate what can be an unpredictable journey is vital. So whether you choose an in person antenatal class (ideally run by your friendly local midwife 👩🏽‍⚕️) or choose to do your own educating online, please be sure to empower yourself with the knowledge to help guide your birth choices 🤍

🍂 Why do more spontaneous births happen in Autumn? 🍂

🤔 Did you know that research suggests that spontaneous (natural) labour is slightly more common in the Autumn months? 🍂

💭 When you think it about it, it makes sense- cosy darker evenings, fires on, hatches battened… perfect cosy, safe and nurturing vibes 👌🏼 Perfect for the hormones Melatonin and Oxytocin which influence the onset of labour ✨

🕰️ As daylight hours shorten and temperatures cool, these hormonal rhythms may help trigger labour more naturally. 🌙✨

Nature’s timing is remarkable — even birth seems to follow the seasons. 💛

🕊️ A poem from your baby to you 🕊️

Dear parents,

I know I cry, I wake at night,
I spit up, fuss, and cause a fright.
I know I make your days feel long,
And sometimes make you question, “what’s wrong?”
But please remember, I’m brand new,
I’m learning life, just like you.
These days are hard, but soon you’ll see,
I’ll smile, I’ll laugh, I’ll make it easy.
For now, forgive my tiny ways,
I’m only small for a little phase.
One day we’ll cuddle without the fuss,
And you’ll see I’ve grown because of us.
Love,
Your Baby 🍼

Really useful information for anterior placenta Mama’s ℹ️

Anterior placentas

The placenta is an incredible organ, belonging to both you and your baby. It's the only transient organ in the human body, meaning that it grows and stays temporarily, leaving once it's fulfilled its purpose. Connected to your baby by the umbilical cord, it releases hormones which help your baby to grow, while also supplying them with nutrients and oxygen. The placenta is also responsible for carrying waste products, such as carbon dioxide, back to your bloodstream to be disposed of.

The placenta develops wherever the fertilised egg embeds into your uterus. Your sonographer will check the position of your placenta during your 20-week scan, to ensure its position won't affect your pregnancy. An anterior placenta simply means your placenta is attached to the front wall of your uterus, between the baby and your tummy. It's a completely normal place for it to implant and develop. It isn't connected to having a low-lying placenta (called placenta previa) and it shouldn't cause you problems.

Although feeling movement can be trickier for anterior placenta mums, your baby should still develop regularity to their movement. If you feel as though your baby's movements have slowed down or stopped, it's important not to assume your placenta is the reason. Call your midwife or maternity unit straight away if you have any concerns.

🙌🏼 M E E T Y O U R T R I B E 🙌🏼

The nights are drawing in, the blankets are calling, and you’re juggling all the things — pregnancy, tiredness, and that endless to-do list. I get it. It’s cosy season, and the thought of heading out might sound like a big ask…

But trust me — you’ll be so glad you did.

At Little Stork, you’ll be welcomed every week by a friendly midwife for face-to-face antenatal sessions in the cosiest private rooms at the Brewhouse pub in Lichfield city centre (yes, parking is super close!).

You’ll meet other parents-to-be who totally get it — the excitement, the nerves, the “is this normal?” moments. You’ll share laughs, swap stories, get real answers, and build a circle of support that lasts long after the bump becomes a baby.

You’ll leave each session smiling, maybe a little emotional, definitely more confident — and ready to slip straight back into those PJs with a warm glow inside.

✨ Spaces are limited — tag or share with your pregnant friends so they don’t miss out. 🤍
