We’re currently celebrating the successful completion of the concrete formwork package for the Norwich Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project for clients I&H Brown. This marks another significant step forward in the UK's transition to clean, reliable energy infrastructure!

As demand for renewable energy continues to accelerate, battery projects like this play a crucial role in securing a stable, efficient and flexible power grid. The Norwich BESS will provide 114MW of storage capacity, helping ensure green energy is stored and used when it’s needed most.

This project marks another important milestone in our expanding presence within the BESS sector, a market we’re proud to support as the UK continues its critical journey toward net zero.

A massive thanks to our project team and delivery partners for their hard work and collaboration.

The Murform M8 Woodside team were delighted to attend the Amey Safety Stand-Down Day at Hampden Stadium yesterday.
The event provided valuable insight into the M8 Woodside safety culture and highlighted how we can continue to support both Amey’s objectives and our own shared commitment to safe delivery on site.
A great initiative that truly engaged all levels of the project team. We also heard from Transport Scotland and several local charities and community groups who are being supported and are making a positive impact in the surrounding area.
Murform were proud to take part in the day, with our Apprentice QS Cerys Porter and Contracts Director Kevin Keenan presenting on behalf of our team and engaging with key supply chain partners.
Thank you to Amey for hosting such a collaborative and informative event.

We’re currently supporting Amey on essential repair works to the M8 Woodside Viaduct, a critical piece of infrastructure located in the heart of Glasgow.

Murform are delivering a full-package solution across multiple sections of this complex project. Our scope includes the supply of all materials, cranage, groundworks, setting out, saw cutting, localised demolition, road protection mats, and engineering input to the designs. We’ve even helped repair potholes overnight using our roto, a true team effort.

A key part of our contribution is the construction of large pile cap bases (up to 4.4m deep) for several of the 23 piers requiring temporary propping, along with permanent strengthening works, all carried out while managing the challenges of live traffic, a subway interface beneath the site, and surrounding utilities.

Our full-service delivery includes over 300 tonnes of rebar, 3,000m³ of concrete, and 11,000m³ of compacted backfill. We’ve also expanded our services to include trench sheet ground support systems, pile cropping, and concrete repairs.

The M8 Woodside project team has recently been awarded Gold by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Well done to all involved!

Yesterday marked a key milestone on-site as we completed the first of a two-stage concrete pour on the East Ramp for Story Contracting Limited at the Oldhall EFW project in Irvine.

Next up: we move on to the West Ramp, with work progressing steadily.

Once completed, the ramps will form part of a one-way system providing access to the 5m high tipping hall slab, where waste materials will enter the plant, a vital component in the efficient operation of the facility.

We’re pleased to be supporting BAM UK & Ireland with all structural concrete elements on the Finstown Substation project, located on the Orkney Islands. This marks a significant step forward for Murform, building on several years of collaboration with BAM across various substation and infrastructure projects. The substation is a critical component of SSEN’s proposed transmission reinforcement from Orkney to the mainland, which is required to support the growth of renewable electricity generators across Orkney looking to connect to the main GB transmission system. A subsea cable will connect at Dounreay, making this project vital to the future of clean energy integration in the region.

Our continued partnership with BAM will see us contributing to SSEN’s ambitious programme to upgrade the network infrastructure throughout the north of Scotland.

Given the island location, logistics have been an exciting challenge, our teams have been mobilising using planes, boats, and everything in between to access the site.

The team has made an impressive start, completing the first 140m³ concrete pour for the 132kV GIS basement floor during their initial rotation. Outstanding effort from everyone involved.

Looking ahead, we’ll be constructing the foundations for eight large buildings, primarily focused on the electrical equipment bases within each.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
