My name is Peter Ison and I am a therapist based in Lincolnshire who specialises in sound therapy and reiki. I work alongside my wife in our business 'Tranquil Awakenings' providing a wide range of therapies to help people to become the best versions of themselves. Alongside the reiki and sound therapy I am also qualified in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), I use all of these skills in conjunction with each other to provide a holistic approach to well-being. You’ve probably heard people say that sound baths help them feel calmer, lighter, or more balanced — but what’s actually happening beneath the surface?

Everything in our world vibrates — from the smallest cell to the largest planet. Our bodies are no different: our heartbeat, breath, and brainwaves all follow rhythmic patterns. When you’re surrounded by the tones of gongs, singing bowls or chimes, your system begins to entrain — meaning your brainwaves and heartbeat naturally start to match the slower, steadier rhythms of the sound.

🧠 This shifts you from a busy “thinking” state (beta brainwaves) into the slower alpha and theta states — the same frequencies linked with meditation, creativity, and deep rest.

🎵 How to Get the Most Out of a Sound Bath

A sound bath is more than just lying down and listening — it’s an experience of deep rest, renewal, and connection. Here are a few simple ways to help you get the most from it:

🕯️ Come with an open mind.
You don’t have to “do” anything — just allow the sounds to meet you where you are. The more you relax into it, the more your body and mind can respond.

🪶 Set a gentle intention.
Before we begin, take a moment to notice how you feel and what you’d like to release or invite in. The sounds often seem to flow exactly where they’re needed most.

🌿 Get comfortable.
Bring a yoga mat, or a reclining chair if you prefer, blankets, and a pillow — the more supported you feel, the deeper you can relax. Many people even drift in and out of sleep (that’s perfectly fine!).

💧 Drink plenty of water afterwards.
Sound works on both physical and energetic levels, so staying hydrated helps your system integrate and rebalance.

💫 Take it easy afterwards.
Notice how you feel — calmer, clearer, or perhaps emotional. Give yourself space to rest or reflect.

Every sound bath is different, but the effects build over time — a little like meditation or gentle exercise for the soul.

As the year draws to a close, take a day just for you — a time to pause, reflect, and gently release what’s ready to be let go of before welcoming in the energy of new beginnings.

This retreat is inspired by the spiritual essence of December and the numerology of 2025, a ‘9 year’ — a time of endings, completion, and spiritual awakening.

Throughout the day, we’ll journey through reflection, healing, and sound to bring balance and renewal on every level.

✨ The Day Includes:
🕯️ Opening circle & intention setting
📝 Guided journaling – reflecting on the past year and setting intentions for the year ahead
🧘‍♀️ Guided meditation – emotional clearance & cord cutting
💫 Deep relaxation with Reiki healing for everyone
🥣 Lunch break (please bring your own, or enjoy one of the nearby cafés or food outlets in the Bailgate)
🎶 Restorative sound bath
🔥 Fire pit & closing circle

Everyone will receive a goody bag to take home as a reminder of the day’s energy and connection.

Spaces are limited to 10 participants, keeping the group small and personal.

🍵 Please bring: your own lunch, and anything you need to be comfortable, such as yoga mat, blankets, pillow, eye mask, bolsters. I will provide a wide choice of herbal teas to enjoy throughout the day.

If you’ve never been to a sound bath before, you might wonder what to expect — and most people are surprised by just how deeply they feel it.
