💟It’s World Menopause Day
One of the lesser known menopause symptoms is dry eye syndrome, yet it’s an incredibly common menopause symptom. Research shows that 86% of women didn’t realise there is a connection between the two.
There are oestrogen receptors throughout the body including your eyes. As oestrogen levels in the body decline, it can reduce tear production and the quality of your tears. If you find that your eyes feel irritated during certain times of the month, this could be due to hormonal shifts, leading to irritation and blurred vision. That’s right, you’re not imagining it!
Symptoms can include:
Burning sensation
Redness
Excessive watering
Blurred vision
A gritty or scratchy feeling
The good news is that relief is possible and we’re here to help. At David Burghardt Vision care we are here to guide you through these changes to keep your eyes happy and your vision sharp.
