Things are starting to take shape down at the allotment.

I went this morning with some help mates.

Still quite a bit to do and the mud needs to dry out but hopefully that wont take too long 🙏🤞🏻

Last week we were looking at 'people who love us'.

We read stories, sang songs, made a pink/red heart, shaving foam sensory play, we had paint hearts on the tuff tray to explore with large brushes, pink cereals with 'love' loose parts to explore using our fine motor skills - the children enjoyed collecting the red hearts in their silver tubs and then tipping them on the floor to count them.

We have also has the usual roleplay - my current cohort love dressing up, small world play, Caterpilliar music and playing outside.

We have loved finding the puddles - lots of jumping and splashing!!

This week is half term so may be a little quieter but i am sure we will be just as busy in our play and learning!! Xx

Last week was National Storytelling week.

We love stories here, someone is always sitting on my knee enjoying a book (which more often than not encourages everyone else to come over to investigate)
We took particular interest in a few classics ☆'The 3 little pigs'
☆'Goldilocks and the 3 bears' and
☆'The Gingerbread Man'

We enjoyed using different resources to build the pigs houses.
We explores porridge gloop for the 3 bears and counted 1,2,3 and investigated big, medium and small.
We attempted to bake gingerbread men on Friday but the oven had issues so we played with the dough instead.

We have also enjoyed playing games, roleplay, small world, Caterpillar music - this weeks theme was 'Safari', painting using our gross motor skills and sooo much more xx

This sounds exciting!! xx

I spent the weekend digging over the allotment!
There was a small bit to finish off so I took some help mates with me yesterday morning.

They were very helpful with their spades. They were excited by all the worms we dug up and we also saw a ladybird and a spider!!

The muddy puddles were also very appealing!!

Next step raised beds and fencing xx

We have added an allotment to out setting!!

As you may have seen from our photos we dont have any green space in the garden and certainly no where to really grow anything.

I thought it would be nice for the children be able get out into a bigger space and hopefully grow something 🤞🏻

So watch this space to see how thing progress (obviously at the moment its not safe for the children to go down there just yet)

I have spent a few hours today starting to clear away the weeds.
Next step will be turning it over in preparation for raised beds to be built and for it to be fenced in xx

This week has been all about 'The Gruffalo'.

We have loved reading the story.

The children have also really enjoyed all the sensory play!!

They created their own Gruffalo pictures.

Today we made Gruffalo crumble and the playdough with Gruffalo loose parts - I loved that one of children decided we should have Gruffalo burgers instead of crumble!! Xx

A few photos from last week......

We spent time in the garden - exploring the mud kitchen, mark making with paint, making bubbles using a potato masher, cereal play and I am very proud that my youngest playmates can now reach the biggest chute for the balls.

We have enjoyed Caterpillar music - the theme was 'minibeasts'

There has been lots of small world play and dressing up as usual xx
