Its been a busy week!!

We have enjoyed -

☆Roleplay
☆Mark making - on drawing boards, with pens and with paint
☆Small world - Noahs Ark with the animals and the dolls house.
☆Construction with the wooden bricks
☆Exploring the ice in the garden
☆Using the song bag to help us choose our songs to sing - its full of objects that represent different nursery rhymes
☆Going for walks - learning we have to wrap up to stay warm at this time of year
☆Blowing bubbles - great for building up the muscles in our mouths for speaking and of course eating
☆Books - looking at them independently and sharing stories with Gemma and our friends

And not forgetting our caterpillar music session - the theme was 'Green'.

The final rhyme of World Nursery Rhyme week was 'Two little dickie birds'.

With the torrential rain and gale force winds I made the executive decision that it probably wasnt too safe for us to be out looking for birds. I also think the birds would have agreed it wouldnt be safe for them to be sitting on a wall for us to find them!!

We enjoyed spending time inside not only singing about birds but also all our favourite rhymes - Wheels on the bus, Miss Polly, Baa baa black sheep, Wind the bobbin up, The Grand old Duke of York (lots of marching) and so many more.

We enjoyed playing the instruments, dancing with the coloured scarves, lights and bubbles xx

Today's nursery rhyme was 'I hear thunder'.

We started the day using pans and metal spoons and rainmakers to make the sound of Thunder and Pitter Patter raindrops.

We have had the loveliest day so far this week so we also sang songs about the sun -
'the sun has got his hat on' and 'Mr Golden Sun'
(We didnt want to scare the sun away with all this talk of thunder and rain!!)

We went on a 'listening walk' this morning. Its amazing how much you can hear when you are out and about.....

☆Dogs barking
☆Birds singing
☆Car horns
☆Sirens
☆The Red Arrows
☆Motorbike
☆Lorries reversing (beep, beep)
☆Crunchy of leaves under our feet
☆Power tools...........thankfully we didnt hear any thunder!!

We also wanted to jump in more puddles but there wasnt any so we created our own in the tuff tray and used colanders in the water table to create the 'pitter patter' raindrop sound xx

Todays nursery rhyme was 'When I was one...'

We have enjoyed exploring the pirate ship.
Counting to 5.
Wearing the pirate hat and singing the rhyme....over and over.

We also went for a walk today to see if we could find puddles left by the rain we have had over the last few days!!! Everyone had the best time running, jumping and splashing!! Xx

Another busy day!!

Today's nursery rhyme has been 'Humpty Dumpty'.

We have enjoyed building walls and we used plasters to see if we could help puy Humpty together again!!

We couldnt let Remembrance Day go by without a piece of artwork - we created our poppies using potatoes and carrots!!

As usual on a Tuesday we had our Caterpillar music session and this week was full of nursery rhymes! Xx

We spent some time today exploring
'Sing a song of Sixpence'

We were kings in our counting house counting all our money!! 🪙💰🏠

We made blackbird pies - we didnt count as many as 4 and 20!! 🥧

We were also like the maid in the garden hanging up the clothes just not to get our noses pecked off a blackbird 🐦‍⬛

We also had a great time playing our instruments trying to be louder than the rain. We also sang alot more nursery rhymes!! 🎶

This week is Nursery Rhyme week.

Some interesting rhymes - some we sing regularly, some we dont sing at all.
I will introduce the children to the rhyme of the day but I imagine we will just enjoy singing all the rhymes we love and have the best time doing it!!!

Even though the rhymes mihht not always be the right ones, i can guarantee there will be singing, there will be instruments, there will be actions, and there will be learning but above all there will be fun, laughter and happy children!!! Xx

Our week in photos!!

We have enjoyed lots of imagination play this week using Noahs Ark, the dolls house and the roleplay basket!!

We have been out of the garden exploring our local environment - on some days we have been to the common and seen the horses and kicked the leaves and on days we have had our younger children who havent been walking long, we have stayed closer to home, playing on the green space over the road to build on our stamina so soon we can all enjoy the common together - its soo much more exciting when you can experience the great outdoors without being in a buggy!!

We have had our weekly Caterpillar Music session - this week was all about fireworks and bonfire.

We have made our own firework pictures and practised putting out the fire using our squirty bottles full of water - great for building our hand muscles for mark making.

We have had the piklar triangle and slide out, bikes to ride and balls to throw, catch and kick.- all great gross motor skill practice!!

There has also been sooo much more!!

Who said Play was easy......there are so many skills to learn and I believe this is the best way to do it!!

See you next week for World Rhyme Week 🎶

Some of our activities from this week -

We have enjoyed exploring the mud kitchen.

Creating a pumpkin picture using orange paint and different orange materials.

Caterpillar music - this week was all about opposites.

Exploring conkers.

Going for Autumnal walks.
On Thursday we enjoyed exploring the common during Storm Benjamin - lots of puddles and we loved watching the wind blowing the leaves off the trees and seeing them float to the floor.

We added washing up liquid to thee puddles in the garden and enjoyed using the sweeping brrushes to create bubbles - great for muscle building!!

The dolls house has been a big hit this week - its been lovely listening to the children using theit imaginations - the people have been watching 'Bluey' on the tv, having a bath, eating tea and the rabbit has been in the fridge!!

There has been shaving foam play.

Mark making with chalk.

The children enjoyed tapping golf tees into the pumpkins.

Being creative painting the pumpkins.

Washing the pumpkins.

Now to enjoy half term with my family!!! Xx

This week we have enjoyed using Autumnal loose parts in the playdough - the children enjoyed seeing the marks the pine cones made in the dough, poking the dough with sticks, making the leaves stand up to look like trees and making a pizza!!

The children added pine cones to the sand as things to manovere with the diggers around the tuff tray.

Leaves were added to the mud kitchen to create some fabulous dishes.

The theme for Caterpillar music was 'counting'. There were lots of songs that included numbers. The children got very involved in the action songs this week.

We went on a few Autumn walks - we all enjoyed kicking the leaves.

We used Autumn colours to our creative work using pens, crayons, paints and different things (tissue paper, cellophane, felt and pasta) to create an autumn collage xc
