What a beautiful week it’s been. The sunshine, those gentle hints of spring, and a real sense of uplift all around, and then this 👆The best moment to top it all off ✨
This week, I had the privilege of meeting with my incredible mentor and officially becoming a recognised Birth Doula 😊 With my recognition for Postpartum doula already achieved last year, It’s been such a meaningful journey, supporting so many wonderful families, learning through the many unique paths birth can take, and growing with every experience.
Having Zara by my side, along with the most supportive circle of doula friends, has made it all the more special. I feel so grateful for the love and encouragement that’s carried me here.
Aside from my children, this is one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ve poured my heart into this work, and now I’m so ready to step into this next chapter 🤍
So what does being recognised mean?
Being recognised means that I have supported a number of births and postnatal families, allowing me to build strong, hands-on experience. Throughout this journey, I have had an incredible mentor and experienced doula guiding me, ensuring that my support is always delivered to the highest standard while protecting both my clients and myself.
Once my mentor is confident that I have gained sufficient experience across a variety of birth and postpartum situations, we hold a final meeting in our mentor–mentee capacity to reflect on my learning and formally recognise my readiness.
It also means:
• Ive completed approved training with
• I am listed with the Doula UK organisation.
• I’ve gained a great deal of practical experience
• I follow a code of ethics
• I have insurance and ongoing professional development.
So here’s to my next chapter, doing what I wholeheartedly love. I could not imagine ever doing anything else ❤️
