Day 3 – The Calm, Steady Support of a Doula During Birth
A birth doula isn’t there to take away the intensity of labour; she is there to soften how you move through it, to help you step into your power with a quiet sense of ease.
Doulas offer both practical and emotional support. During your antenatal sessions together, you’ll explore comfort measures and practise techniques to prepare for birth. Choosing your anchors, scent, music, affirming words, or touch, helps create a sense of calm and familiarity when labour begins.
Some doulas also bring practical tools such as birthing balls, TENS machines, or birth combs to support you physically through each wave.
Your birthing space is sacred. It deserves to be protected, so you can feel fully at ease and allow yourself to lean into the rhythms of labour. This is why choosing the right doula is so important. Your connection should feel natural and reassuring, she should understand you on a deeper level and offer the right support, whether physical or emotional, at every stage.
