We would like to wish our community a Happy St George’s Day!

Honouring England’s Patron Saint, St George is a symbol of courage, chivalry and the triumph of good over evil.

Nearby in Crowhurst, we are fortunate to have what is believed to be possibly the oldest church dedicated to St George in England! Dedicated in 1191. Illuminated by the spring sunshine, the beautiful stained-glass window in the vestry illustrates the legendary scene of St George and the dragon.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a dearly loved wife, mum, grandmother and great-grandmother. Veronica passed away peacefully on 12th April, aged 82 years.
She was the heart of her family - kind, caring and endlessly devoted to those she loved. Her warmth, strength and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her love and the many cherished memories she leaves behind.
She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

The Funeral service will take place on Tuesday 5th May at 1pm at St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Lingfield, followed by the burial at St George’s Church, Crowhurst.

We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the Penshurst Point-to-Point, held this weekend at nearby Brookers Farm, by kind permission of the Lyle family.

This wonderful family day-out brings together the local farming, equestrian and country community for an afternoon of horse racing in the heart of the Kent countryside.

We would like to thank all those who work so hard to put this event together, from the owners, trainers and jockeys, to the officials, stewards and volunteers. We are privileged to support such a wonderful occasion.

We are so pleased to share a glimpse inside the fabulous evening we enjoyed celebrating 30 years of Alex Jones Funeral Directors! Can you spot any familiar faces?

Held at Lingfield Park with music by Joe Pettitt and his fantastic LP Swing Orchestra, these wonderful photographs were captured by Lou Siggers.

Alex has been so touched by the kind words shared on the evening, and also the messages he has since received. He would again like to express his sincere gratitude to all those who were a part of this special celebration, especially those who travelled so far.

In reflection of this gratitude, here are a few words shared by Alex, during his speech at the event -
“As any of you other funeral directors in the room tonight will know, the path of this profession is not easy, and its becoming harder. It asks much of you, emotionally and practically, and yet you have given, and give, so generously of yourselves. I simply could not have done this on my own, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.” ❤️

This weekend, members of our team were delighted to attend the National Society for Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) AGM, held this year in beautiful Stratford-Upon-Avon.

This yearly event is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and suppliers across various aspects of the profession, whilst hearing from inspiring speakers and engaging in discussions about the future of funerals.

Being a member of SAIF represents our commitment to upholding the highest standards of care, compassion, and professionalism. Unlike many funeral providers or online cremation companies, being a member of SAIF means we are proudly able to guarantee the reassurance of strictly following SAIF’s Code of Practise, meeting their regulations with regular inspections. In an industry that is shockingly not legally regulated, being a SAIF member gives you the extra reassurance of guaranteed high standards and reputability.

This year’s event raised funds in support of the chosen charity of then SAIF President Ross Hickton, for Prostate Cancer UK. We were also pleased to welcome the newly installed SAIF President, Gary Staker, for 2026/27. Thank you SAIF independent funeral directors for a wonderful weekend!

We are sending our heartfelt congratulations to our dear friend Andrew and his family, on his appointment as the next Bishop of St Albans. The Right Reverend Dr Andrew Rumsey, is a well-known face to many of us locally, having previously been Rector of Oxted and Tandridge, working closely with our team during that time.
