We want to hear from you ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Have you taken part in Engaging Communities over the past three years?

Engaging Communities is our 5 year project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland that provides support for people living with, or at risk of diabetes across Northern Ireland. The project has set up 7 Live Well Hubs and provides peer support (face to face and online), womenโ€™s health sessions, remission-specific peer support and a befriender service.

As we reach the end of year 3, weโ€™d love to hear about your experience.

If youโ€™ve accessed Engaging Communities in the last three years, please take a few minutes to complete our short survey ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://orlo.uk/survey_nAqdQ

Youโ€™ll also be in with a chance to win a ยฃ25 voucher ๐ŸŽ

Winners will be notified on Monday 2 March.

For World Diabetes Day 2025, Diabetes UK NI launched our calls to action for politicians, asking them to support us in driving forward progress in diabetes care before the end of the current Diabetes Strategic Framework.

In January, Tina and Suzy continued this conversation with members of the Health Committee asking them to follow up on these areas with the Minister for Health. We also met with Minister Nesbitt directly, where we are hopeful that there will be progress made in some areas in the coming months and before the end of the Framework. We will continue to ensure diabetes remains a priority to our policy decision makers and keep these conversations going.

Weโ€™re taking a short break over Christmas and New Year to rest and recover, but our Helpline will be back and ready to go from 9am on Friday 2 January 2026.

While weโ€™re away, thereโ€™s lots of support waiting for you at diabetes.org.uk. From helpful information to our Online Support Forum, youโ€™ll be able to connect with others who really get what living with diabetes is like ๐Ÿ’™

If you need urgent medical help, please call 999. For anything less urgent, NHS 111 is available 24/7 ๐Ÿ“ฒ

If youโ€™re struggling with your mental health, you can also call NHS 111 (option 2) or reach out to Samaritans on 116 123 as theyโ€™re always there to listen.

And if youโ€™d simply like a friendly voice at the other end of the phone, the Check In and Chat service from the Royal Voluntary Service and GoodSam offers free, relaxed chats every day between 8am and 8pm. You can call them on 0808 196 3646.

From everyone here at Diabetes UK, weโ€™re wishing you a peaceful Christmas and a healthy, happy end to 2025 โœจ
