Due to the continued success of our Diabetes Support Sessions, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Diabetes UK to launch a new monthly Diabetes Live Well Hub.

These sessions will bring together a range of health professionals and educators, each focusing on different aspects of living well with diabetes. The aim is to provide practical advice, increase understanding and create a supportive space where people can learn, share experiences and connect with others.

Our first session will take place on Wednesday 1st April 2026, from 2:00pm - 3:30pm at WHSCT Recovery College, Omagh.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Maighread McKelvey, who will be joining us to lead an informative and engaging discussion on -
“Beyond the Numbers - Let’s Talk About How Diabetes Affects Your Life.”

There will be an opportunity to ask questions, as well as benefit from peer support in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Booking is essential.

For World Diabetes Day 2025, Diabetes UK NI launched our calls to action for politicians, asking them to support us in driving forward progress in diabetes care before the end of the current Diabetes Strategic Framework.

In January, Tina and Suzy continued this conversation with members of the Health Committee asking them to follow up on these areas with the Minister for Health. We also met with Minister Nesbitt directly, where we are hopeful that there will be progress made in some areas in the coming months and before the end of the Framework. We will continue to ensure diabetes remains a priority to our policy decision makers and keep these conversations going.
