Eventually when the rain finally stopped, some of the clients decided to go outside for a walk.

The air felt fresh and cool, but It was good to be able to get out and stretch their legs after staying inside.

By the time they came back in , everyone seemed to have enjoyed it.

We had a lovely time celebrating Pancake Tuesday at Old Friends Adult Day Care. Everyone enjoyed freshly made pancakes with a choice of toppings, from syrup,lemon ,chocolate to fresh fruit.
It was a relaxed, friendly morning and a nice way to spend time with one another.

Valentine’s Day at Old Friends was’nt about romance — it’s was about connection.

It’s about the warm greetings at the door.
The familiar faces that light up the room.

We recently decided to try something a little different with one of our lovely clients — candle making!

Together, we chose to make coffee-flavoured candles with a warm yellow finish. The rich coffee scent filled the room as we carefully melted the wax, mixed in the fragrance, and added just the right touch of colour to create a soft, golden glow.

The yellow gave the candles a bright, uplifting feel — like sunshine in a jar — while the coffee aroma added warmth and comfort. It was the perfect combination: energising yet cosy at the same time.

More than just making candles, the experience gave us time to connect, laugh, and enjoy trying something new together. There’s something really satisfying about creating something from scratch and watching it come together step by step. From choosing the scent and colour to pouring the wax and waiting for it to set, every part of the process felt rewarding.

By the end, we had beautiful handmade candles that looked amazing and smelled even better. Most importantly, we shared a memorable experience that we’re already excited to repeat.

Who knew a little wax, a coffee scent, and a splash of yellow could bring so much……… can’t wait for everyone else to try.

It was all about arts and crafts—hands busy, hearts happy. We made pon pon heads with bright colors, each one with its own personality. Tiny snails followed, slow and sweet, curled shells and careful details that made us smile as they came to life.
By the end of it our hands were covered in glue and paint, and the table was full of creations, including a small handful of love card —made from time, laughter, and the joy of making something together.

For anyone walking alongside dementia: this is a reminder that change doesn’t mean disappearance. Even as abilities shift, connection still matters. Kindness, presence and love are always felt.

Some of the clients really enjoyed cotton bud painting, using the cotton buds to create colourful flower designs. The activity enabled, everyone to take part at their own pace.

Cotton bud painting helped support fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity, while also providing a calming and relaxing experience. Clients were proud of their finished artwork and enjoyed expressing themselves through colour and texture.
