Hello folks,
I thought it was about time I introduced myself as the newest member of the team at Oakleigh and also the main Facebook tech admin.
I’m Sophie, a single mum to my lovely little boy and furry mum to Lady Helga and our lil one eyed black cat at home Miffkin.
We live by the sea and love being outdoors walking our girlie who came to us last year from a Bulgarian Street Dog Rescue.
I rent and manage a little cafe called Willow’s Pantry, which is named after my little daughter who passed away 17 years ago. She is always in my thoughts so this was my way of being able to write and say her name in a normal way.
I’ve had many bereavements in my life my notably hers, my best friend right before I was due to have my little boy who I then birthday on his funeral day 😅 couldn’t make it up! And someone I’d just met who I thought was the love of my life. Dying just 6 days after we met. So much heartbreak in my life but I’m lucky to of found love again and along with Helga and my son they are my absolute world.
I’ve mostly worked in the caring profession as personal carer, activity coordinator, one to one supporter for people with dementia and then as an assessor and group facilitator for dementia charities.
Over the years (as I have ADHD) I have enjoyed various roles some of my favourites include Living History Demonstrator working as a Victorian Lady demonstrating school and domestic life as well as looking after heavy horses and farm animals. Apprentice assistant for a local music charity and Volunteer with the Scrap Store, Vintage Market Stall Holder, Dog Sitter, Vintage Ice Cream Trike Owner aka The Cornish Ice Trike.
Education I did well at school some how! But failed maths so that has really held me back over the years. But I have Studied Contemporary Crafts at Degree level where I loved working with textiles and ceramics, became a qualified Sound Therapist and Gong Master and have attained an A-Level in Digital Marketing.
I’m now studying Complimentary Therapies including Swedish Massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy so can combine these with the sound therapy for holistic treatments.
So being able to work here really enables me to bring all of my life skills into play and I’m loving it.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all over the coming months and am thankful for such a wonderful team of women to work with, with just the best boss you could ever ask for.
So thank you all for the opportunity and see you at the house dreckly!
