Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness of risk factors, symptoms and the importance of looking after your long-term health.

A family history of cancer, smoking, va**ng, poor diet and long-term acid reflux can all increase risk. Making positive lifestyle changes, such as stopping smoking or va**ng, can help reduce the risk of many cancers and improve overall health.

Knowing the signs and understanding risk factors can support earlier diagnosis and better outcomes. 🎗️🩺💙✨

Children’s Mental Health Week is a great opportunity to think about how we can support children’s wellbeing in everyday life. 🧠💙📱✨

Creating healthy habits around screen time and internet use, having open conversations about what children see online, and knowing where to find support can all make a positive difference.

For families waiting for neurodiversity or mental health assessments, trusted guidance and early support can help while you’re on the journey. Small, consistent actions at home can help children feel safer, more confident and better supported.

💙 Ways to Wellness – Thank You for Joining Us 💙

Our recent Ways to Wellness event brought patients and community partners together in a calm, warm, and friendly environment 💬✨

🌱 On the day, we saw meaningful engagement and outcomes, including:
• Blood pressure checks
• Vaccination bookings
• Bowel screening kit enquiries and orders
• Wellbeing and cancer screening conversations
• Supportive discussions, including bereavement support

📣 Our outreach made a difference too:
People attended after seeing our flyers and receiving text messages, helping us connect with patients across our community.

💬 One attendee shared:
“It took me a lot to come here today, and I’m so glad that I did. I got a lot from it.”

While the numbers tell part of the story, the real impact was in the confidence, reassurance, and support people gained on the day.

As always, we enjoyed helping people learn more about their health and take some time for themselves. 😊

World Cancer Day is a chance to raise awareness of cancer prevention, early diagnosis and the importance of national screening programmes for bowel, breast and cervical cancer. Screening can help find changes early, before symptoms appear, when treatment is more likely to be successful. 💙✨

Many people diagnosed with cancer now live longer and better lives thanks to improvements in detection, treatment and support. Understanding risk factors, making healthy lifestyle choices and attending screening when invited can all help reduce risk and improve survival. Sexual Violence Awareness Week is a time to highlight support for anyone affected by sexual assault or sexual violence, including women and men. 💜

Help is available if you have experienced abuse, are worried about someone else, or need advice on staying safe. Confidential support, medical care, forensic services and sexual health checks (including STI testing) can be accessed through specialist services.

You may also see emergency alert test notifications on your phone during national testing. Opting out can help some people keep phones hidden and safe, as these alerts override silent and do not disturb settings.

You are not alone, and support is there when you are ready. 🕊️🩺✨

Blue Monday Pop-Ups: Turning a Difficult Day into Something Positive 💙

What’s often labelled the “saddest day of the year” became something far more uplifting across our PCN thanks to our Blue Monday Pop-Ups.

Our aim was simple: raise spirits, offer gentle wellbeing support, and share information around mindfulness and emotional health - and the response showed just how valuable this kind of outreach can be.

Across the network, we achieved:

- 27 meaningful patient interactions
- 4 Sleepstation referrals
- 1 smear test booked

Lots of positive feedback including "This has been great! Thank you" and "You can come again!", with patients welcoming the friendly check-ins and open conversations.

More than the numbers, people told us how much they appreciated being able to stop, talk, and be reminded that support is available in simple, accessible ways. These pop-ups created space for connection, reassurance, and signposting - exactly what they were designed to do.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making Blue Monday feel a little brighter across the PCN. This is a great reminder of the impact community-based wellbeing support can have. 💙
