37 years ago, 97 men, women and children went to a football match and never returned home.

Today we remember them, the survivors of Hillsborough, and all whose lives changed forever on that tragic day.

We give thanks for the strength and the fight shown by all who have never given up on justice and truth. We pray, today especially, for those still striving to bring peace to the hearts of the broken.

Wishing all our families, friends and colleagues a very Happy Easter.

Easter is a really special time and it speaks of hope, renewal and new life but we know that for many, it may feel heavy with grief and loss. If Easter feels difficult this year, please know you are not alone.

May the true meaning of Easter bring comfort, gentle moments of light, and the promise that even in the darkest times, renewal and hope can still be found.

Mothering Sunday this year came at us with many challenges before we even thought about planning our own event. We had the half marathon to contend with, a 4.30pm kick off time across Stanley Park and then, as we awoke that morning, the weather decided to turn on what had been a beautiful day just 24 hours before.

We headed down to Anfield Crematorium with a cautious hope that people would come, as they do faithfully every year, to remember their mums, their children, their nans. What could have been a complete wash out, literally thanks to the weather, turned out to be the most beautiful afternoon.

Hundreds of people came and went, placing their flowers, taking a moment to remember and give thanks. Families came to the chapel where they shared the names of loved ones to be read aloud during the service of remembrance. The memory trees were overflowing with messages of love and hope, there was a real sense of comfort being found amongst strangers all there with a similar understanding of loss and grief.

The simple act of making a cup of tea, offering a bunch of daffodils to take home and a safe space to sit and reflect on a day that brings a lot of emotions to the surface is an incredibly special thing to be part of and something we are privileged to offer every year.

Thanks to your generous donations, we also managed to raise over £130 for helping to support bereaved children.

At a funeral service, finding the right words can feel incredibly difficult.

Grief, love, gratitude, and remembrance are powerful emotions - and sometimes poetry, music, hymns, or a meaningful Bible verse help to say the things that are hardest to express.
These words and melodies can bring comfort, connection, and a quiet moment of reflection for everyone gathered.

Today we celebrate the power of words, and the way they help us honour, remember, and hold close those we have lost. 💚

When we are grieving, happiness can seem so far out of reach.

But grief and happiness aren’t enemies. In fact, they often live side by side.
💚 A memory that makes you smile.
💚 A story shared at the kitchen table.
💚 A moment when you realise just how deeply someone was loved.

At a funeral, we see this all the time - tears, yes, but also laughter, warmth, and those small sparks of joy that come from remembering a life well lived.

So today, if happiness feels close, embrace it. If it feels far away, that’s okay too.
Sometimes happiness in grief is just a gentle moment of remembering.

And that’s more than enough.

Sending kindness to anyone missing someone today. 💚

Our lovely team will be at Anfield Crematorium today, Sunday 15th March, between 11am and 1pm and will be on hand to talk with those who need a listening ear.

Mother's Day can be hard for lots of reasons; it might be your first one without your mum, the first since you lost your child, or that special mum-like person in your life has been gone a number of years. A short service of reflection will be held in the chapel at 12:00 noon, where we will come together to remember all of the amazing women in our lives who have helped shape us to be who we are today.

Our memorial trees will be there for you to hang your personalised messages on, and we will collect names of loved ones to be read out during the service.

The service will be live-streamed by Obitus for anyone who is unable to attend.
