Hi folks, I hope you are all well!

It has been a long time since posting anything on here and for that I apologise. Covid certainly put the brakes on the school's development.

I am hosting a Qi Gong workshop followed by a lovely organic brunch @ Fatcory Kitchen above the Invisible Wind Factory in Liverpool.

There are limited numbers so if you want to come please make it known soon.

All best,

Johnny

Hey Folks,

As of 10 minutes ago, St.Michaels church Hall has just closed its doors to all classes until after the Easter holidays 😓

Tonight’s class is therefore cancelled and I will let everyone know when they are back on again.

I would like to offer my students classes under the pagoda in the festival gardens. Come rain or shine we can then practice outdoors as long as we wrap up for the occasion. Would anyone be interested in doing this?

My current availability would be a Monday early afternoon, or a Sunday morning. If you would be interested in this please comment below and we can see about meeting in the fresh air to avoid passing on the big C.

Many thanks,

Johnny

At first, one of the most important aspects of the Qi gong training is to build the connective tissues in the body. Through opening, stretching and conscious whole body movement we can begin to build elasticity and a springyness into the body. This is what eventually enables us to be mind-full.

Tomorrow’s class we’ll be getting the wu xing ( 5 element) sequence completed and looking more in-depth at the principles behind the external movement. As well as all the usual stuff!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

The Qua: the area of connective tissues and muscles around the hips is really important for Qi gong practice.

In the beginning we must open and strengthen the whole area through core work and stretches whilst trying to get our minds deeper into the tissues to build our awareness of the area.

Eventually the qua becomes our seat for transformation. Sitting into the qua becomes like the final keystone into a bridge, pressing down equally through the connective tissues in the legs.

These practices take time but keep going and you’ll get there. Finding the qua and sitting into it properly is the bridge to the subtler practices of Qi gong.

We work with the body to work with the breath.

Working solely on the breath can plug us into different levels of awareness quite quickly but until it is rooted in the body it will quickly change back to our default once we take our mind off of the practice.

Our connective tissues are a store house for our acquired way of being. Keep opening and stretching, keep purging and build the foundation.

Gradually the breath with change and remain that way. This is why we work that way.

Daoist Qi Gong - Liverpool

A weekly class and private tuition for people wanting to explore a traditional lineage held system of personal and spiritual cultivation - Daoist Qi Gong. The teachings are passed down from the International school Lotus Nei Gong. The classes will contain a mixture of physical bodywork and alignment exercises, energetic purging and circulation practices and mind discipline and development. The three areas are treated with equal importance as a balance is required between all three for the safe navigation of the practices as they deepen for the practitioner. The classes are available to drop in on any time although you will benefit from treating the practices as progressive and practice at home as well as with a teacher. The development of a personal practice is important and without doubt the most effective and direct way to understand the internal arts. The practices you will learn can aid in all aspects of life, as we begin to open and purge stagnation from the body we create space to find clarity and focus in our mind and eventually begin to understand our connection to our original nature and spirit. My aim as a teacher is to create a safe space to empower you with the tools needed to navigate your journey through life from a place of responsibility, awareness and humility. Cost: Drop in £8 per class or £25 for 4 classes. Requirements: Over 18 years old. Bring a yoga mat with you if you want to although it is not mandatory. We will be stretching and doing a little floor based body work but there will not be a focus on like a yoga class. Flat soled trainers, loose fitted and comfortable clothing. If you have any health concerns please inform me before the class begins or, if you prefer, contact me before coming to class.
