At Roby Medical Centre, we focus on providing safe, accessible, patient-centred care for our local community.

Our access model is designed to be flexible and clear:

• Patients can request their preferred clinician, with clear advice if this affects waiting time.

• Emergency appointments are prioritised for vulnerable patients.
• Home visits are available for patients who are housebound.

Our most recent GP Patient Survey shows that patients feel listened to, and 97% were able to see their clinician of choice.

Roby Medical Centre is currently accepting new patient registrations. Information about our services, patient feedback, and how to register can be found on our website, NHS.uk, or Google.

We are proud to serve our community and to support patients in accessing the care they need.

We know that accessing general practice can feel frustrating at times, so at Roby Medical Centre we are very clear about the standards we set for ourselves.

We try to make sure appointments allow time for proper conversations, not rushed decisions. Our clinicians work hard to provide continuity wherever possible, particularly for people living with ongoing or more complex health needs.

Our reception team are a big part of the experience too. We want patients to feel listened to from their very first contact, whether that’s on the phone or in person, and we expect every interaction to be professional, kind, and supportive.

Recent GP Patient Survey feedback reflects this approach, especially around patients feeling heard and treated with respect. That feedback really matters to us, and we use it to keep improving how we work.

If you are new to the area, or simply looking for information about local GP services, details about registering with Roby Medical Centre can be found on our website or by speaking to our reception team.

Care Navigator (Reception and Patient Services)
Roby Medical Centre, Huyton
Two part-time positions available, up to 30 hours per week each

Roby Medical Centre is a well-established GP practice with a strong reputation for professionalism, kindness and high standards of patient care. We receive consistently positive feedback from our patients, particularly about the way they are treated by our front-of-house and reception team.
We are now looking to recruit two part-time Care Navigators, each working up to 30 hours per week, to join our reception and patient services team.
About the role
This is a patient-facing role, working mainly on reception and telephones. As a Care Navigator, you will often be the first point of contact for patients, both face to face and over the phone, and your communication, judgement and professionalism will shape their experience of the practice.
You will support patients to access the most appropriate service or clinician, manage enquiries calmly and respectfully, and work closely with the wider practice team to ensure a safe, efficient and supportive service.
This role requires excellent customer service skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to remain professional in a busy environment.
Working hours
Two part-time roles, up to 30 hours per week each
Shifts will be worked Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 6.30pm
Flexibility is essential, as shifts will vary within these hours
Exact working patterns will be discussed at interview
Who we are looking for
We are looking for people who genuinely care about how patients are treated and take pride in delivering a calm, respectful and professional service.
You do not need previous NHS or GP practice experience to apply. Applications are very welcome from candidates outside the NHS who can demonstrate strong transferable skills from customer-facing roles such as hospitality, retail, call centres, healthcare, social care or similar environments.
Essential skills and qualities
Excellent communication skills, both face to face and on the telephone
A friendly, calm and professional manner
Strong customer service values and attention to detail
Ability to manage a busy workload without losing professionalism
Confidence using IT systems and willingness to learn new systems
Reliability, flexibility and a strong team-working approach
What we offer
Full training in care navigation, systems and practice processes
A supportive and experienced team environment
The opportunity to work in a practice that values quality, kindness and patient experience
NHS pension and employment benefits
Final note
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, understands the importance of first impressions, and wants to be part of a practice where standards and patient experience genuinely matter.
If you are motivated, professional and take pride in delivering excellent service, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Exciting News – Coil Fitting Coming Soon to Roby Medical Centre!

We are pleased to announce that Roby Medical Centre will soon be offering coil (IUD/IUS) fitting at the practice. To support the final stage of our clinician’s training, we are looking for two patients to assist in completing their qualification.

If you are considering having a coil fitted, or if you are currently on a hospital waiting list, please contact the practice to discuss your suitability. This could be a great opportunity to have the procedure done sooner and closer to home.

What is a Coil?

A coil is a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) device inserted into the womb (uterus) to prevent pregnancy. There are two types:
🔹 Hormonal coil (IUS) – releases progestogen to prevent pregnancy and can help with heavy or painful periods.
🔹 Non-hormonal coil (IUD) – made of copper, which prevents s***m from surviving in the womb.

Benefits of a Coil:

✅ Highly effective and long-lasting contraception (5–10 years, depending on the type)
✅ No need to remember a daily pill
✅ Can help manage heavy or painful periods (hormonal coil)
✅ Can be removed at any time if pregnancy is desired
✅ Suitable for most women, including those who cannot use oestrogen-based contraception

If you’d like to learn more or see if you’re suitable, please contact the practice. Our team will be happy to answer any questions and arrange an appointment if appropriate.

📢 Important Update from Roby Medical Centre

Last week, 43 patients failed to attend or cancel their appointments. With increasing demand for appointments, it’s vital that patients let us know if they no longer need their booking.

Please remember: all appointments are confirmed 24 hours before your scheduled time, and a cancellation link is provided in the confirmation message. Cancelling takes just a moment and allows us to offer the slot to someone else in need.

By cancelling your appointment if it’s not required, you’re helping us to support the practice and other patients who may need medical care urgently.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Let’s work together to ensure everyone gets the care they need.
