APRIL IS C SECTION AWARENESS MONTH ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿšบ

I have personally experienced both C Section and a Vaginal Birth & here are some of my thoughts before I went through my C Section last year:

๐ŸคThe thought of major surgery for the first time in my life - I was absolutely terrified and probs cried most days beforehand ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚

๐ŸคThat constant thought of am I ever gonna โ€˜bounce backโ€™ whatever this even means ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐ŸคSecond guessing my knowledge in Womenโ€™s Health even though I knew a section was the best outcome for me due to previous birth
๐ŸคWondering - Am I doing the right thing? What if it goes wrong? What if I donโ€™t recover and I wonโ€™t be able to train how I did before?

These are all totally normal thoughts ๐Ÿ’ญโฌ†๏ธ

What actually happened post babyโ€™s safe arrival:

๐Ÿฉท I listened to my body and I was able to move as little and as often to begin with - more than what I thought I would be able too

๐ŸฉทI made sure I tried have a balanced diet most of the time and drank plenty of water - this helped with the dreaded constipation ๐Ÿซฃ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฅฆ๐ŸŒพ

๐ŸฉทI continued with my pelvic floor exercises pretty much straight after birth and really focused on my breathing whist doing this and in general

๐ŸฉทI braved the scar and looked at it straight away, not gonna lie at first I was like ooooer ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซฃ but I decided to embrace it and started using silicone patches post 6 weeks - which made such a difference ๐Ÿ’ฏ

๐ŸฉทI got myself in with Sarah (the best) at for a Natal Check when I was 8 weeks PP

๐ŸฉทI went back to light exercise 6 weeks post surgery

๐ŸฉทI use to help with the scar healing

This was RIGHT for me - I wasnโ€™t too hard on myself & I did have a really good pregnancy which my body allowed me to train throughout ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I ๐Ÿ’ฏ believe that this has helped aid my recovery this time round & special thanks to my gym fam who allowed me to crack on with my normal training throughout - I had nerves gone on a daily ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Fast forward โฉ 6 months Post C Section I competed in the Winter Turf Games ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Iโ€™ve wanted to do this course for a long time, I cannot wait to start and Iโ€™ll keep you all posted on my journey along the way ๐Ÿ˜

1๏ธโƒฃ Poor Nutrition: Are you eating enough? Are you eating the right things? Your body NEEDS those nutrients to heal - which includes a balanced diet of carbs, protein and fats ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ—๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿš

2๏ธโƒฃ Lack of Sleep: Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep is crucial for healing and your overall performance. Also pain feels worse when you are tired, I would aim for around 8 hours + (if your lucky ๐Ÿ˜†) a night ๐Ÿ˜ด

3๏ธโƒฃ Stress: Are you feeling stressed? Itโ€™s suggested that stress can increase muscle tension & coordination difficulties which increases your risk of further injury ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

4๏ธโƒฃ Correct diagnosis/ Treatment?: If you feel that you can โœ… off all of the above, Are you doing the right rehab for you? Is the diagnosis correct? Maybe seek a second opinion or show your concerns to your therapist ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

5๏ธโƒฃ Consistency: Are you being consistent enough through your rehab and home exercise programme? Consistency is ๐Ÿ”‘ only you can get out what you put in ๐Ÿ’ฏ
