My main aim has always been to help support people with the lifestyle changes they require in order to live a balanced healthy life and as the SPIRIfiT motto suggests ' happiness is an inside job'

This is your journey !

We are unique , and so it's very much about you finding your way forward - developing your self awareness through yoga can help you decide what's important and what really needs to be binned!

The new year is a great place to put those plans into place. Set yourself a target or maybe set an intention ( known as sankalpa in yoga ) to improve an aspect of your life.

Things to remember

Goals are a destination or specific achievement.
Intentions are lived each day, independent of achieving the goal or destination.

Goals are external achievements. Intentions are about your relationship with yourself and others. Understand both and try to be realistic and you'll do yourself proud - enjoy your journey!

Listen to what your body and mind need and avoid putting pressure on yourself - we have enough to contend with without punishing ourselves with extreme fitness and diet plans. How's about you set a non diet and fitness related goal this year ? Learn a new skill or take up a hobby that completely takes you out of your comfort zone.
Yes keep fit , stay healthy but nobody is in your shoes so don't let anybody tell you what's right for you. Society puts excessive pressure on us to look a certain way but really how boring is that ! Weight stigma is a massive contributor to mental health issues and so it is sort of hypocritical for any fitness ' expert' to offer you a programme that'll change you or your body - what's wrong with your body as it is ???
Trust professionals to help support you and guide you ( if you feel you need it)
Sack the influencers, the opportunists and money grabbers
Never compare your journey. There are so many different routes and modes of transport to choose from - find your own sustainable , consistent way forward and make sure you enjoy the ride with people you love beside you.
Your body is the least bit interesting part about you.

Ps I'm still drinking the bubbly ( hence the post ) 🤣

Self care Sunday. Instagram can be a bit overwhelming at times looking at perfect bodies, perfect yoga poses , perfect homes perfect relationships - perfect perfect perfect! We all know it's not quite like that in real life!
Self care can mean more than the exercises ,the food, the appearance related goals you set.
The inner work can take years. No matter what you look like on the outside - that doesn't tell you much at all.

Who is making their own cranberry sauce? Quercetin and other polyphenols found in cranberries provide protection from certain cancers but the studies are done mainly on mice - whether this translates to humans remains uncertain - the problem we find in nutritional science is that there are often confounding factors that will affect studies so it's very difficult to ascertain benefits from individual foods. A varied and non restrictive diet is always best. Remember these molecules don't work individually - there are synergistic effects!

So happy to be back teaching yoga - doing what I love the most! I've missed it so much. Lockdown for me this time around was horrendous - I'm sure lots of you can relate - when people talk about being aligned , keep grounded and whatever else yogi people like to say - well I couldn't! I did try but have you ever washed a cat ? Well basically that's how I've felt - such a struggle !! so anyway I'm glad to be back it feels good !

Prop and play Friday! This morning I'm working on modifications on traditional postures ( because yoga isn't always about getting your leg behind your neck ) creating safe sequences that will enable more of my massage clients to enjoy the benefits of yoga - yoga is for everybody! ❤

It's a yoga at home kinda day - I have really struggled personally to keep afloat! You know when you have so much work you need to do but can't - so it was a case of ah f**k it all!
' pandemic fatigue ' So I set myself a plan
1 daily yoga routine
2 one day craft making ( haven't got round to that one yet ) - but I've put my Xmas tree up)
3 one day meal prepping lots of plant based meals for the week ahead
4 read a chapter of a book each day - just finished 'not a life coach'
- what an absolute legend that man is
5 run, bike ,walk do something that gets me outdoors moving at MY pace
6 Check in on close friends
7 sleep ( going through the menopause means I'm not getting enough shuteye )
I'm taking the pressure off myself as I have so many shoulds and oughts in my head- but I know I need to give myself a break ! I am prone to giving myself a hard time 🙄
