There’s something powerful about watching clinical reasoning click into place.
Last week, Algeos Academy delivered an in-person session to Level 2 students as part of their orthotics module at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. It was a hands-on, touch-and-feel workshop exploring insoles, materials and prescription variables - not just what they are, but how and why they’re used in practice.
Students explored orthotic variables, material science and real clinical applications, forming the foundation for confident, evidence-informed prescribing. Over the next eight weeks, they’ll build on this through case studies and practical lab sessions focused on manufacturing, finishing and refining devices.
A highlight? The bio-psycho-social evaluator model. The colour, look, feel and texture of a device matter. Function is critical - but so is presentation.
If you’re a lecturer, educator, or programme lead looking to enhance your orthotics teaching with practical, industry-led sessions, get in touch with Algeos Academy to explore partnership opportunities.
