💆♀️✨ Before You Book a Post-Op Massage
Check These 5 Things
Because not every massage is a post-op massage.
And when your body is healing from surgery, who you choose matters, a lot.
Here’s what to look for 👇
1️⃣ Therapist Qualifications
Your therapist should be properly certified in manual lymphatic drainage and post-operative care.
This isn’t your regular relaxation massage, it requires anatomical precision and clinical understanding.
2️⃣ Experience with Your Specific Surgery
Every surgery is different — lipo, tummy tuck, BBL, or breast and each requires a unique approach.
An experienced therapist knows how to adapt pressure, positioning, and drainage patterns safely.
3️⃣ Sterile + Safe Environment
Fresh incisions + drainage = higher infection risk.
A clean workspace, gloves, and medical-grade hygiene aren’t optional, they’re essential.
4️⃣ Knowledge of Post-Op Protocols
The right therapist understands the stages of healing, how to identify seroma or fibrosis early, and how to use compression effectively.
They’re not just massaging, they’re monitoring recovery.
5️⃣ Communication with Your Surgeon’s Plan
Your therapist and surgeon should be on the same team.
Open communication ensures the right frequency, pressure, and timing for the safest recovery possible.
6️⃣ Clear Aftercare Guidance
A professional post-op therapist doesn’t just treat you — they educate you.
You should leave each session knowing exactly how to care for your body between appointments:
💧 How much water to drink
🩱 When to wear (and change) compression garments
🚶♀️ How to move safely to avoid fluid buildup
🕯️ And what signs mean you need medical follow-up
💙 Post-op massage isn’t just about sculpting, it’s about helping clients heal the right way.
