Louise Riley is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant based in Liverpool. While breastfeeding my own daughter I found many women would tell me about the problems they had had breastfeeding, this inspired me to provide more support and information to help women meet their personal breastfeeding goals. I have been supporting breastfeeding mothers since 2010 and am now available for private IBCLC appointments. During the session we can discuss your hopes and thoughts about breastfeeding, any previous experiences of birth and breastfeeding, as well as what to expect during the first week of breastfeeding. An initial session of approximately 90 minutes costs £80. Before the session a brief history will be taken. During this session a full history will be taken. Many issues can be addressed during the session, we can discuss if ongoing support is needed and agree a support package. Starting solids session of approximately 60 minutes costs £40. During this session we will discuss introducing solids to your baby. I can also offer a video consultation for £30 an hour. video calls may not be suitable if you are struggling with latching and positioning issues or you suspect your baby might have tongue tie

If you have more complex situations such as medical conditions in mum or baby, or relocating please contact me to arrange a support package. Coming soon – group antenatal and starting solids sessions. If you are interested please send a message for your details to be added to the mailing list.

With shortages of Infant Formula in the shops at the moment, remember babies over 12 months can have cows milk instead, consider leaving the formula for formula feeding families with younger babies.

Tongue Tie assessment is not as simple as a quick look in the mouth. We need to assess several different aspects of tongue and suck function and oral anatomy, AND watch a full breastfeed with appropriate changes to positioning and attachment. Anyone who glances at a baby and says "I can't see a tie" or "well he's sticking his tongue out" probably isn't qualified to be making a decision regarding a referal to a tongue tie practitioner.

A Commons environmental audit committee (EAC) report which is several pages long calling for government action on all of the toxins weare expossed to in daily life.

There is one line in section 3 point 44 it mentions that breast cancer uk say there are increased chemicals in body fluids. If you follow the reference, there is one line that says the UK and USA have high levels of some chemicals in breast milk and in blood, and the reference for that is a study that says there are higher levels in lipid rich parts of the body including breast milk but the highst concentration and cause of exposure is dust!

The UK media report it as 'Cocktail of chemicals' found in UK mothers' breast milk due to home furnishings'

Which isn't going to help anyone, we all have high levels of chemical exposure due to pollution so it is going to be in any food we eat or feed out children, artificially modified cows milk is also going to have a ' cocktail of chemicals'.

The most toxic thing we are expossed to is the uk media.
