🥞 What is “pancaking”?

Pancaking occurs when stoma output collects around the top of your ostomy bag instead of falling into it, sometimes seeping under the baseplate and causing leaks.

Here are a few tips to help prevent pancaking:
✔️ Stay hydrated – plenty of fluids help keep output flowing smoothly 💧
✔️ Add foods that help with consistency 🍎🥕
✔️ Ensure your pouch fits snugly around your stoma ✅

Keep leaks at bay with these simple steps:
🔹 Check your seal – Ensure your pouching system fits snugly.
🔹 Avoid pressure – Be mindful of tight clothing or belts.
🔹 Hydrate and manage diet – Stay hydrated and watch for foods that may cause excess output.
🔹 Regular changes – Change your pouch as recommended.
🔹 Skin care – Keep skin clean and dry before applying a new pouch.
