But this winter, you *don’t have to face it alone.*

🔥 **UNISON Welfare is here for you.**
If you’re a UNISON member on a low income, you could be eligible for a **£200 supermarket voucher** to help with food shopping through the **Winter Essentials Grant**.

🎁 **Grant opens for applications:**
🗓 **Wednesday 10 December 2025**
⏰ **12 noon for 24 hours only!**
📍 Apply online (link will go live at 12pm)

✅ **To apply, you must:**
• Be a **UNISON member** with at least **4 weeks of paid subscriptions by 10 Dec 2025**
• Subscriptions must be **up to date**
• Not have received a UNISON Welfare grant since **10 June 2025** *(excluding School Uniform or Seasonal Food Fund)*
• Be responsible (or your partner) for **household fuel bills**
• **One application per household**

And *either*:

💷 **Low income:** Net household income no more than **£28,205 per year** *(£2,350.42 per month)*
*or*
🎗 **Receiving means-tested benefits**, including:
Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Tax Credits, Pension Credit, JSA, ESA, Income Support, and more.

“Congratulations to healthcare support worker members in Cymru who have fought for years to be recognised as band 3,” says UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea.

“Around 7,000 workers will now move to this salary scale, with back pay to recognise the vital clinical work they’ve been doing.

“This long-overdue win delivers justice for a predominantly female, low-paid workforce who keep NHS services running every day.

“It was won because workers organised, raised collective grievances and, in some areas, prepared for industrial action.

“A massive UNISON win on an all-Wales level – and proof of what’s possible when workers stand together.”
