Unfortunately the computers are all down at the moment so we can't access any clinical records or make appointments. We are trying to fix this as soon as possible

Unfortunately due to staff having to self isolate the practice will be running on a skeleton staff. Please bear with us on the telephone and when attending any booked appointments.
There may be longer waits over the next few weeks but we are still here to help and doing our best to deal with your queries as quickly as possible.
We ask only to phone if urgent.

FREE VITAMIN D for people at higher risk from coronavirus

Some people who are at higher risk from coronavirus (COVID-19) can apply to receive a free supply of vitamin D supplements this winter.
All those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (on the government’s shielded patients list) will receive a letter inviting them to opt in for a free supply of vitamin D which will be delivered directly to their homes.
Deliveries will be free of charge, starting in January, and will provide 4 months’ worth of daily supplements to last people through the winter months.
Dr Fiona Ogden-Forde, a GP in Liverpool and Governing Body Member for NHS Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) explains:
“Vitamin D is important for our general health, particularly bone and muscle health.
“Getting enough vitamin D is especially important this year, as people are more likely to have been indoors for extended periods due to measures introduced to stop the spread of COVID-19 – especially those who have been shielding.”
You do not need an NHS prescription to receive your free supply of Vitamin D this winter, and you should only contact your GP if you have any specific health concerns about taking vitamin D that you wish to discuss before applying.
The letter details how you can access this free supply, or alternatively you can apply online here. You will need to have your NHS number to hand (you can find this on any letter or document you have received from the NHS).
Please note that you can only make one application for vitamin D supplements, and you will need to apply before Sunday 21 February 2021.

COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAMME - CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The COVID-19 vaccination programme continues to be rolled out in Sefton – the biggest in NHS history – and GP-led services in the borough are looking for volunteers to help support the safe and smooth running of this work.

Registered charity Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS), local Primary Care Network groupings and the clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Sefton, are working in partnership to register and mobilise volunteers to support the vaccination programme.

A coordinated effort is important to ensure that as many people as possible across Sefton receive the vaccination safely and effectively.

The programme is designed so that people can sign-up to volunteer in a range of different roles, depending on availability and preference.

Initially we will be looking for volunteers at the Bootle and Maghull Vaccination Centres.

For more information on the volunteering roles and to sign up to become a Vaccination Volunteer please visit; volunteeringsefton.org.uk/vaccination-volunteer/

Please note Sefton CVS will be monitoring and responding to daily Government advice as the situation evolves in the coming weeks, so changes may be made to this page and contact form. 12/01/2021

We are pleased to have our 1st Coronavirus vaccination hub up and running at Maghull Town Hall and from Thursday 14th will have a 2nd one at North Park Health Centre, Bootle. Many of our GPs, Nurses and Support Staff will be working at these hubs as well as trying to keep the surgery running for our patients. We are currently inviting patients over 80 years to book an appointment. Please don't call us about getting a vaccine unless you have been invited by letter, text or phone call. We are being swamped with calls. We do understand how important this vaccine is to everyone and are doing our best to deliver as many vaccines to those at greatest risk first. In these challenging times please help us by using chemists, the NHS website and e-consults where possible.

COVID-19 VACCINATION
The first phase of the NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme has started.

When it is the right time people will receive an invitation to come forward.

For most people this will be a letter, either from their GP or the national NHS.

This letter will include all the information you will need to book appointments, including your NHS number.

Please do not contact the NHS to get an appointment until you get this letter.

Information on the vaccine is available on the NHS.UK website.

Covid National Restrictions from Thursday 5th November
Tougher national restrictions from 5 November
Monday, November 2, 2020

The Prime Minister has announced tougher national restrictions in England from Thursday.

Until Thursday 5 November, Sefton and the Liverpool City Region will remain in the 'very high' Local Covid Alert Level and these measures continue to apply. From Thursday the national restrictions will replace these local restrictions.

National restrictions

From Thursday 5 November, everyone must stay at home, and may leave only for a limited set of reasons. These include:

For education;

For work, if you cannot work from home;

For exercise and recreation outdoors, with your household, support bubble or on your own with one person from another household;

For all medical reasons, appointments and to escape injury or harm;

To shop for food and essentials;

And to provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer.

A full set of exemptions will be set out in law.

Single-adult households will still be able to form an exclusive support bubble with one other household, and children can move between homes if their parents are separated.

Non-essential shops, leisure and entertainment venues will be closed. Click and collect services can continue and essential shops, including supermarkets, will remain open, so there is no need for anyone to stockpile.

Pubs, bars, restaurants must close, except for takeaway and delivery services.

People should work from home wherever possible. Workplaces should stay open where people cannot work from home – for example, in the construction or manufacturing sectors.

Shielding as practised in the spring will not currently be reintroduced. The clinically vulnerable, or those over the age of 60, should be especially careful to follow the rules and minimise contacts with others. Those who are clinically extremely vulnerable should not only minimise their contacts with others, but also not go to work if they are unable to work from home.

There is no exemption for staying away from home on holiday. This means people cannot travel internationally or within the UK, unless for work, education or other legally permitted exemptions. Overnight stays away from primary residences will not be allowed, except for specific exceptions including for work.

Inbound international travel will continue to be governed by the travel corridor approach, and those currently on a domestic holiday will be allowed to finish their holidays, but are still subject to the requirements in England not to go out without a reasonable excuse.

Public services, such as job centres, courts, and civil registration offices will remain open.

There is no exemption for communal worship in places of worship (except funerals and individual prayer), organised team sports, or children’s activities.

Elite sport will be allowed to continue behind closed doors as currently.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, known as the furlough scheme, will remain open until December, with employees receiving 80% of their current salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500. The cost for employers of retaining workers will be reduced compared to the current scheme, which ends today.

Early years settings, schools, colleges and universities will all remain open. Parents and carers should make sure their children keep attending school. However, universities and adult learning providers should consider increasing online provision where possible.

Parents will still be able to access registered childcare and other childcare activities where reasonably necessary to enable parents to work. Parents are also able to form a childcare bubble with another household for the purposes of informal childcare, where the child is 13 or under.

Unless clinicians tell patients otherwise, they should continue to use the NHS, get scans and other tests, turn up for all appointments and collect medicines and treatments.

Litherland Walk-in Centre

Litherland Walk-in Centre is currently experiencing a very high number of calls and enquiries from members of the public wishing to have a Covid-19 test. However we do not provide this service and are unable to undertake any Covid-19 testing.

In addition, there are significant numbers of patients attending the walk-in with coronavirus symptoms, which is causing delays in assessments. If someone has coronavirus symptoms, they should make an appointment at their nearest Test Centre or order a Home Testing Kit by visiting: www.nhs.uk/coronavirus. Alternatively they can call 119.

In accordance with government guidelines, suspected Covid-19 patients should not be visiting a healthcare setting, such as a walk-in centre and should instead be self-isolating.

The only exception is if a patient has been referred to the ‘red site’ at Litherland Town Hall, which is a part of the walk-in centre with the sole purpose of assessing and treating suspected Covid-19 patients. Patients can be referred to the 'red site' by their GP or following triage by the walk in centre. For the safety of patients and staff, this is why we are requesting all patients book an appointment in advance, so they can be directed to the correct site

Litherland Walk-in Centre is open every day from 8am to 8pm and patients should book an appointment in advance via the telephone triage system on 0151 475 4667. If they don’t, there is no guarantee that they will be seen.

This service provides face-to-face and virtual consultations for all patients who have a minor illness or injury. Patients who need a review of long term conditions and/or medication, cannot be seen by the walk in centre staff and need to make an appointment with their GP.

For further information on Litherland Walk-in Centre and their individual contact details, visit: www.nwbh.nhs.uk/walk-in-centres

We provide treatment, support and guidance for a range of health issues for people living in Greater Manchester, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan.
