LACTATE: PRODUCTION AND MAX OXIDATION 📊
What are we looking at?
The chart compares lactate production (red line) with maximum aerobic lactate oxidation (blue line) across increasing speeds/paces. Both are measured in mmol/min.
🔴 Red line = how much lactate your muscles produce.
🔵 Blue line = how much lactate your body can clear (oxidise) using aerobic metabolism.
Your actual lactate concentration during exercise depends on the balance between these two….
So what? 🤷🏼♀️
