Smart looked strong on squats this week. Didn't take long to get used to the monolift either which was good.

Don't want to jinx anything but he hasn't had any knee pain for quite a while now, which is fantastic considering we've been able to steadily increase volume over the last couple of months. Looks like all the rehab work we did (heavy squats) in his last training block really paid off.

Rehab work doesn't have to be light, fluff work with tiny resistance bands. Some injuries/pain respond better to heavy work.

Understanding why you're experiencing pain is the first step to figuring out a solution and getting stronger. You will always benefit from getting stronger.

There are no benefits to being weak.

Did you know that 95% of diets fail?

Well, actually, it would be more accurate to say that 95% of the time, long-term weight loss fails.

You may have experienced this yourself.

Have you ever lost weight from being on a diet, only to put it all back on again?

Or even worse, after quitting the diet, did you up weighing more than you did in the first place?!

If you said yes to either, or both, of these questions, you are not alone.

The sad fact is that these are, statistically, the most likely outcomes post-diet.

After a few years of this yo-yo dieting, weight loss, weight gain cycle, you end up the heaviest you've ever been. Then what?

If this is you, if this has been your experience, I want to help.

What if you could break the cycle?

What if you could use scientifically backed systems to direct your weight loss?

What if all it took was making small adjustments to your current eating habits?

You don’t have to give up the foods you enjoy.

You don’t need to suffer and struggle to make progress.

This does not have to be an unpleasant process, and “dieting” does not have to be a dirty word.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in then I'd like to make you an offer.

Sign up before the end of the year for a 30% discount, and I'll even throw in a training programme for free.

To book a free, no-obligation, consultation, like this post, comment “book me in”, and I'll be in touch soon.

PS If this isn't something you're interested in, but you know someone who might be, share this post with them.

PPS Merry Christmas

Now THAT is how you smash a set of Pendlay rows. Minimal excess movement and control throughout the whole rep. Good work

Check out smashing this Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat (there's nothing Bulgarian about them) AMRAP of 15 with 42.5kg/94lb, weighing only 50kg/110lb for an estimated max of 64kg/141lb 😱. Absolute machine.
Becky's training is focusing on improving her strength for Roller Derby.
Guess she'll be going over bodyweight in no time.

Some high bar squats for Mike from yesterdays group session. This was the start of his pivot block (to steal terminology from Reactive Training Systems). This means using different variations to his competition style technique and higher rep ranges. The goal is ideally to preserve strength, at worst minimise strength loss from the end of the development block.
Mike also got some solid benching done yesterday so that video will be up later today or tomorrow.
This was 117.5 x10 for his top set. Wonder what he'll hit next week 👀.

Very good session this morning with the Powerlifting Group, nice little rep PB for . Currently takes his 1rm from 235 to an estimated 252.5. Looking forward to keeping this momentum up and he keeps hitting big numbers.
There are spaces left in the group for anyone who wants to get into powerlifting, whether you have the goal of competing or not.
If you'd like powerlifting coaching and aren't in Liverpool, or can't make group sessions, then online coaching may be a better fit for you. For more info about either the group, or online coaching, DM me or email adam@arstrengthcoaching.co.uk

165kg x7 PB at 72kg bodyweight for . This was the culmination of a very short, very intense training block. This worked a treat for his squat, it was less effective for bench and deadlift, more experimentation needed.

When we first started working together his 1 rep max was 155kg. His estimated max is now over 200kg.

If anyone is interested in getting into powerlifting, or even if you've competed before, I am starting a new team at , more details coming soon

Double bodyweight yoke for Emad at 6am this morning. Not a bad way to start the week. This was the 4th set of 5, followed by sandbag squats supersetted with prowler sprints, and sandbag carries to finish.

This style of training is a great way to improve conditioning while getting stronger, with minimal DOMs as well.

We do 4 hard sessions like this a week. 6am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

As you can see there's plenty of room for anyone who wants to have a go. You could do 1-2 sessions a week, or go all in and join us for all 4 sessions. DM or email adam@arstrengthcoaching.co.uk for more info and prices
