Peugeot 207 1.4 HDi 2009

A non-start condition was investigated on a Peugeot 207 1.4 HDi. The engine cranked but failed to start. Initial checks revealed no power at the OBD diagnostic port and no communication with the engine control unit (ECU).

Further inspection identified signs of water ingress to the original ECU, which was later confirmed to be unresponsive during bench testing.

A replacement ECU was sourced and fully cloned using the original unit's internal flash and EEPROM data via boot mode. This successfully restored communication and power to the vehicle’s engine systems. However, a persistent immobiliser lock was observed due to a mismatch between the ECU and the vehicle’s BSI (Body Systems Interface), preventing authorisation.

To restore engine operation and confirm system integrity, an immobiliser bypass (immo-off) solution was applied to the replacement ECU. The engine then started and ran correctly, with all associated systems functioning as expected.

It is recommended that the BSI module be further assessed for potential data corruption or desynchronisation. Full immobiliser function can be reinstated through appropriate BSI–ECU pairing or reconfiguration using dealer-level diagnostic tools.
