Support BAC O'Connor Centres this September and join them on the Recovery Walk 2025 in Wolverhampton 👣
As part of National Recovery Month, we are delighted to announce that BAC will be joining the UK Recovery Walk 2025 in Wolverhampton on Saturday 13th September at 12:00pm.
This inspiring annual event brings together thousands of people from across the country to celebrate the power of recovery, challenge stigma, and shine a light on the strength, resilience, and hope within our communities.
We’re calling on all BAC graduates, staff, friends, and supporters to come and walk with us. It’s more than just a walk – it’s a day filled with connection, unity, and pride in what recovery means to us all. The event takes place at West Park, Wolverhampton, starting with the Recovery Walk itself and continuing with the vibrant Recovery Village from 1pm–5pm, featuring music, performances, workshops, and stalls from recovery-focused organisations across the UK.
🚍To make it easy to join, we’re running a coach from Burton and Stoke to Wolverhampton.
Seats can be booked by calling BAC Reception. To make sure we have space for everyone a £5 refundable deposit will secure your place and will be returned to you on the day of the walk.
Kevin Langan Programme Director of the BAC said:
"I would urge you all to make the effort and join us on The Recovery Walk in Wolverhampton. Recovery is about unity and we are all in this together – staff, clients, and families. I’ve been to several Recovery Walks in the past, and I can tell you it truly is a day to remember. When the march sets off, with trumpets, drums, and general happiness, everyone is buzzing to be part of such a grand gathering. We don’t walk far, maybe two miles, but the joy and gratitude along the way are incredible. Families bring their children and even their dogs, and the atmosphere is electric. This day is about showing the world that we DO and CAN recover. So come with us – walk tall, walk proud, and be part of something truly special."
✨How to get involved:
1. Call BAC Reception 01283 537280 to reserve your seat.
2. Pay your £5 refundable deposit by dropping off £5 to either BAC in Burton or SRS in Stoke.
3. Join us on the day and be part of this amazing celebration of recovery.
This is an opportunity to come together, reconnect with the recovery community, and show the world what is possible. Whether you’re celebrating your own recovery journey or supporting someone you love, your presence matters.
💙Let’s walk side by side, raise our voices, and continue building a future where recovery is recognised, supported, and celebrated everywhere.”

Our thanks to Channel 4 News for featuring The Forward Trust's prison and community projects in Essex this evening.
Tony Adams, our Chair of Trustees, and our CEO, Mike Trace, explain why specialist and timely addiction support is vital for both prisoners and substance users in our communities.
Kids don’t just “scroll too much” or “eat badly” by accident.
Decades of neuroscience explain how trauma rewires behaviour - and how commercial systems cash in on it. This article breaks it all down, and shows how families and communities can push back, one habit and one policy at a time.

As part of Alcohol Awareness Week, BAC O'Connor Centres are highlighting a crucial issue: Alcohol & Menopause 🧠🌸 Learn more in their recent post below!
Today for Alcohol Awareness Week, we're highlighting a crucial issue: Alcohol & Menopause. 🧠🌸
🔍 According to Alcohol Change UK, menopause brings hormonal shifts and symptoms: hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, sleep disruption – and alcohol can significantly worsen these symptoms, while our ability to process alcohol often declines with age.
📊 Experts point out:
• Alcohol can trigger or intensify hot flashes and night sweats due to its effect on blood vessels.
• While it may help you feel sleepy, alcohol disrupts sleep quality, making insomnia and fatigue more pronounced.
• Menopausal women are at increased risk of heart issues, osteoporosis, and weight gain, and alcohol can compound these risks.
• Mood swings, anxiety, and depression (already common during menopause) can be made worse by alcohol, which may even interfere with Hormone Replacement Therapy.
If menopause symptoms are leading you to drink more, or making existing drinking feel heavier, you’re not alone, and help is available.
At BAC O’Connor, we understand how menopause, mental health, and addiction can overlap. Our supportive, tailored recovery programmes can help you find healthier ways to manage this life transition, because you deserve relief and resilience without relying on alcohol. 💚
