I’ve made up a batch of 10ml Kathy’s Magic Balm pots, perfect for popping into your pocket, handbag, coat or first-aid kit.

Wild medicine begins in these meadows.

Everything I make starts here on our land in Wales. The nettles, the dandelions, the herbs we use in your balms and teas — they’re gathered with care, season by season, from the meadow and woodland we’re blessed to live on.

There’s something really grounding about working with plants you’ve watched grow, knowing exactly where they came from and the intention behind every jar and bottle.

Sometimes mushrooms come into our lives for reasons that have nothing to do with eating them.

We're so used to thinking everything natural has to be used: brewed, blended, tinctured, bottled. But some plants and fungi aren't here to be consumed. They're here to sit with us, teach us, and hold space in their own quiet way.

Outside my front door we've got a huge old beech beam, and over the past few months an Artist's Bracket has been growing bigger and bigger on it. At first I thought, "Oh, maybe it's telling me I need to make a tincture." It's a UK native ganoderma, a cousin of reishi, so my herbal brain naturally went there.

But the more I looked into it, and the more I actually listened to it, the clearer it felt.

It isn't here for me to harvest.
It's here to protect.

Artist's Bracket has a long history of being a boundary mushroom, a guardian, and the fact it chose the threshold of our home feels so right. It's as if it's standing watch, holding the energy at the doorway, reminding me that not all medicine has to be taken. Some medicine just needs to be honoured.

Mushrooms really are amazing.
They show up exactly where they're needed, and sometimes their only job is simply to be and for us to notice.
