I just the past two days with so many wonderful people at the bi-annual Compassionate Mental Health gathering. It was incredible to have so many different areas and interests represented in one room and to hear the many brave stories that had brought people there.

It was inspiring to learn and to witness the passion there is to change our society’s current approach to mental health.

A three-day experiential event to explore a radical shift towards well-being in our lives, communities and workplaces

This past weekend I joined Women Only Walks - Eryri/Snowdonia for another brilliant well-being walk.

It was a reminder of just how much I love this area and how powerful it is to spend time in nature. Walking with this lovely group was a boost for my own mental well-being and spending time in the outdoors was, as usual, nourishing for my soul.

Here are a few of my favourite photos from the walk:

Before I began training to be a psychotherapist, before moving to North Wales, and before I became a mother, my life revolved around kayaking.

Since my early teens, it was all about white water; be it getting out river running or competing in freestyle competitions. My love for the outdoors has only grown stronger but now it's evolved to be more about long days in the mountains and trail running.

It has struck me that I've got quite an interesting intersection of skills and experience...

I'd really love to work with kayakers, extreme athletes, and outdoor folks in general. I think what I can offer in terms of therapy could be so helpful, maybe even unique.

I understand what it's like to compete internationally, I understand what it's like to take risks in nature and after all my years involved in the kayaking scene, I think I've got a good understanding of what it's like at the extreme end of things and the potential of trauma in the outdoors.

So; I'm putting this out there to all those who live and play in our natural environments; coaches, athletes, weekend warriors, climbers, kayakers, and more....do you know someone that could benefit from therapy? To help them work through a difficult experience they've had. Or to work on their head game in competition. Or to help with confidence or anxiety. There's huge potential here and I'd love to help!

I think this could be a really beneficial and powerful territory to explore!

It's

As we navigate the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis, the climate emergency and more, it's important to remember that it's okay to not be okay. Whether you're feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, there is no shame in reaching out for help.

I encourage everyone to take this week as an opportunity to prioritize their mental health. Whether that means taking a break from social media, reaching out to a therapist, or simply taking some time for self-care, let's make our mental health a priority.

Remember, you are not alone. There is help and support available, and together we can work towards better mental health for all.

This share this post and spread the word 👇🏾

Your mental health matters, regardless of the week. And you don’t have to face it alone.

Special shout out to for this gorgeous illustration 💙

What is Core Process Psychotherapy?

Briefly; it's a therapy based on mindfulness practices and Buddhism blended with modern psychology. It's a relational and person-centred approach that emphasises compassion, awareness and self-acceptance.

And for a not-so-brief explanation, I wrote a deep dive on my blog about this form of psychotherapy, how it differs from other forms of therapy or counselling, and how it's so powerful:

Core Process Psychotherapy is a mindfulness-based holistic approach that blends principles of Buddhist psychology with ‘Western’ psychology.
