I adore the therapeutic art sessions that I facilitate every week at Plas Gwyn Care and Nursing Home, thanks to the support of their outstanding manager

Steffan and ALL of the staff at Plas Gwyn care for nothing more than the utmost welfare of all of their residents, including self-expression, purpose and joy.

Self-expression, purpose and joy are the key to my therapeutic art sessions.

For every participant, each piece of art that is created should be unique and individual. You should be able to tell immediately who made them, based on your prior knowledge of each soul.

Purpose comes from linking activities to the interests of each artist so that they have an opportunity to enter flow state through total focus.

Joy comes from ensuring every activity is fully accessible and that outcomes are not pre-defined.

Sometimes, a song deeply touches our soul.

It resonates with us on a personal level and we relate to the lyrics.

At we get to know each of our participants thoroughly and their favourite songs.

The songs that make them come alive.

The songs that move bodies.

The songs that break down barriers.

Music and movement are inseparable- when we choose the right songs natural, spontaneous movement happens.

The heart of my work is always the same:

I have had the pleasure of regularly visiting Hafan Y Waun care home each week for a number of years to deliver sessions

This work is magic.

Barriers dissolve through mirrored movement, joy overflows through favourite songs and we see each other, fully, in the moment.

It was a real pleasure to share my talk, The Forgotten Power of Natural Movement. I spoke about my own journey with dance — from my early experiences, to rediscovering conscious dance later in life as a powerful form of self-expression and wellbeing. I also shared how this work continues through the communities I support with Dance Your Ability Therapeutic Movement Foundation and The Joyful Life Guide sessions.

Tomorrow I will take the stage and stand on the red carpet for TEDxAberystwyth 2026: Verifying you are human.

This is an opportunity for me to share an idea that is core to all of my life work as The Joyful Life Guide:

We ALL need to be moving our bodies joyfully in rhythm together for our holistic wellbeing without fear of judgement.

I have been fortunate enough to commit myself to this goal, aligned with my passion and values, for the last 7 years.

Thanks to my amazing mentor Shauna Devlin I have been able to further the reach of this work through the Dance Your Ability Therapeutic Movement Foundation, breaking down barriers between populations so we can all dance our unique dance together across the generations.

And I look forward to committing myself to this work as my life's purpose as the programme grows and develops this year!

The preparation for the talk has been momentous and required almost all of my focus, energy and time over the start of this year, but my desire to share my ideas has pulled me through.
