Another festive themed post now...

One of our fantastic Case Managers shared this with us today:

'My client made a lovely Christmas toadstool log with me. He asked if I would make something with him for his mum - as we did something last year together.

It's made from a cardboard tube painted green, some hot glued fairy lights and moss. We made 'toadstool' toppers with hot glue which he painted and finally glued them on before adding some pine cones to make it look more real.

He loved doing this - he really enjoys being creative and it was an opportunity to see how he managed this activity with no written instruction, just some verbal instruction from myself and my ready made one on the table so he could look at it for reference.

It was a great use of fine motor skills including painting, using a pen, using the hot glue gun and pulling apart the moss. He was so pleased with how it turned out and loved 'presenting it' to his mum.

I asked him to write down the steps he took to make it, and this together with the photos is a great way of gathering evidence of his challenges and support needs in such an activity.'

Join us in wishing Case Manager, Beverley Williams, a very Happy Retirement!

She brought with her such an amazing wealth of experience working with children and adults with ASD, Learning Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, Genetic Disorders and neurological conditions. She is such a warm, friendly professional, with a natural ability to build a rapport with clients, their family and other colleagues and professionals involved.

Though we will miss her immensely, Beverley will continue her fantastic OT work with Mind In2 Action Ltd. She says, 'We’ve developed a practical, evidence-based programme that brings together the best of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and holistic wellbeing. It’s built from everything we’ve seen, learned, and felt over the years — designed to meet the real-world needs of the families and professionals we support.

Since Christmas Day is just around corner, we thought we'd share something a little festive....

Case Manager, Emily Hillier, has been working closely with her client, Jac.

Jac has had a very busy year writing and directing his own pantomime! Jac, together with Clary from Forget Me Knot productions, delivered a fantastic show to his family and friends with his support team taking the leading roles including acting as celebrities from one of his favourite shows “This Morning”.

Here Jac can be seen preparing for his show using his EyeGaze technology, as well as enjoying the evening with his great support team. What a brilliant accomplishment - and everyone loves a panto at this time of year!

Thank you to Headway Cardiff & South East Wales for such a wonderful afternoon yesterday at their annual Sparkling Afternoon Tea 🥂

It's become a staple in our festive calendar and yesterday was the biggest and best ever, with a packed out room in an amazing venue! Well done to the team on a fantastic fundraising event 💙

We were honoured to sponsor the entertainment for the day and boy did the Rock Choir ROCK! Followed by such beautiful tunes from the immensely talented harpist, Chloe.

We're already looking forward to next year! Always delighted to support the charity and be helping those affected by an acquired brain injury in some small way. A huge well done to CMC case manager, Stephen Wynne, who works hard as a member of the fundraising committee at Headway Cardiff to help bring these lovely events to fruition.

Today it's the turn of Sarah to feature for Trutees' Week, an OT many years for Cardiff's Brain Injury Team before bringing her experience and caring to Case Management Cymru. She's always on hand to advise us around relevant client issues. Such is her dedication that she's even roped in hubbie, Vince, to provide his experience in helping us with payroll!

Today, to mark Trustees' Week, we're featuring long-serving Trustee, Vicky, who contributes invaluable experience, initially as Acquired Brain Injury Specialist Nurse in Cardiff, then leading the Community Brain Injury Team, before establishing Case Management Cymru. Vicky's been with us for the journey and smoothed it with her sage, balanced approach.
