Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in the Newport ABP Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K today 👏🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Skip the static stretching—get your body moving with a DYNAMIC WARM-UP 🙆‍♂️

These are my favourite go-to dynamic mobility exercises before any game:

🔥 Lx rocks (side to side)
🔥 Archer stretch
🔥 Lx roll + V toe touch
🔥 Bodyweight squat (focus on depth)
🔥 Mountain climber + Tx rotation
🔥 Walking Lunge into hip hitch & calf raise
🔥 Inchworms

Run through 2 sets of 6–10 reps of each and with a bit of running & sports specific drills you’re good to go.

This takes 5 minutes and helps:
✔️ Loosen hips + spine
✔️ Improve movement + control
✔️ Reduce risk of muscle pulls

After surgery, physiotherapy isn’t just something that happens to you — it’s something you actively take part in ⚠️

Working in both NHS and private physiotherapy, I see this from both sides.
Within the NHS, physiotherapy is designed to guide and support your recovery, but it’s important to understand that most of the progress comes from self-led rehabilitation. You’re typically given exercises, advice, and milestones — but the real results depend on how consistently those are followed outside of appointments.

This is where many people struggle — not because they don’t care, but because building and maintaining that routine on your own can be challenging.

Physiotherapy isn’t just about exercises — it’s about behaviour, structure, and accountability❗️

Research and clinical experience both show that outcomes after surgery are strongly linked to adherence:
• Doing your exercises regularly
• Progressing them at the right time
• Staying consistent even when motivation dips

For some people, NHS input is enough to guide a full recovery. But for others — especially those who find it hard to stay consistent — additional support can make a significant difference to strength, mobility, and long-term outcomes.

If you’re preparing for surgery or currently in rehab, it’s worth asking:
Do I have the structure and support in place to follow this through?

Because ultimately, the success of your recovery is shaped by what happens between the appointments.

Why should you book into clinic for your Vald dynamo + assessment ⁉️

➡️ Functional movements (walking, running, squatting, jumping) require coordinated muscle chains.
If one key muscle is weak, other muscles may:

*️⃣ Change their timing
*️⃣ Overwork to compensate
*️⃣ Work at a mechanical disadvantage
*️⃣ Lose stability to push against
*️⃣ If the nervous system doesn’t feel stability it can down regulate force output

⚠️ So other muscles may produce less effective force, even if they are strong on an isolated strength test

Therefore by Identifying just one weak area with testing, it may help your performance by more than you might think 💪

💡 It’s not that one weak muscle magically makes all others weak. It’s that:
The body works as a kinetic chain — and one weak link can reduce overall efficiency and force output.
