This year alone, we had 102 applicants for care positions.
We pre‑screened every single one.
We invited 78 to interview — 54 didn’t show up.
Out of those who progressed, 8 completed DBS checks, met clients, and still didn’t start.
And 2 didn’t even turn up for their first shift, leaving vulnerable people without the support they were expecting.
This is the reality small care providers face.
We take safeguarding seriously. We take our clients seriously.
But we can only deliver high‑quality, reliable care when applicants do the same.
If you’re applying to work in care, please understand:
Real people depend on you. Reliability isn’t optional — it’s safeguarding.
