Today feels like one of those “threshold” days.

Nothing dramatic has happened yet… but something is shifting.

Over the years, I’ve written a lot of notes. For parents.

For children. For myself.
Scraps of paper, margins of notebooks, moments captured right after sessions where something clicked.

Lately, I’ve been revisiting them and realising they tell a much bigger story than I first thought.

A story about how anxiety hides in the body.
About how silence isn’t absence it’s protection.

About how we often have to change first, before a child ever can.

Something is taking shape from all of this.
I’m not ready to share it fully yet… but I will soon.

For now, I’m curious...
What’s one thing your child has taught you that you didn’t expect?

👉 Comment “BRAIN” and I’ll send you my FREE Cerebellum Guide to help you support brave voice before speech.

When a child goes silent,
it’s not defiance.
It’s not rudeness.
It’s not a choice.

It’s the brain saying: “This doesn’t feel safe yet.”

Silence is how anxiety protects a child
when words feel too big for the body.

The goal isn’t “say the words.”
The goal is feel safe enough to try.

Freeze isn’t refusal.
It’s a survival response.

When anxiety activates the brain’s alarm system, speech goes offline; even when a child wants to talk.

This short breaks down what’s happening inside your child’s brain in simple terms.

What if confidence doesn’t come before safety, but after?

Many parents feel they are waiting for their child to suddenly feel ready. But often children are already doing the best they can with the safety they have.

A reflection for today:
What if your child doesn’t need more encouragement, but a different starting point?

Awesome Powers Academy supports children aged 8 to 14 by building safety in the body, the brain, and relationships first. Children are always placed in the right age group so the environment feels appropriate and supportive.

Today, Thursday 15th January, I’m hosting a free meeting for parents.

This is your chance to come and meet us, ask questions, and understand how the Academy works before it opens.

We only open three times a year.

silence.

It’s watching your child struggle.

Between the ages of 8 and 14, children become more aware of themselves and of expectations. Many parents notice their child knows they are capable, yet still feels stuck or overwhelmed outside the home.

A reflection for today:

What if your child’s difficulty communicating is not a lack of confidence, but a lack of felt safety?

And another reflection for parents:

Who is supporting you while you support your child?

Inside Awesome Powers Academy we work with the whole family system. Parents matter. Stress matters. Children aged 8 to 14 are always placed in the right age group so they feel safe and understood.

On Thursday 15th January I’m hosting a free meeting for parents. You can come and meet us, ask questions, and speak openly about what feels hard right now. The Academy opens only three times a year.

Is your child 8–14 and quiet, silent, or invisible outside the home?

Do they talk freely at home —
but freeze at school or with others?

This free live Zoom event is for parents who want to understand
what’s really going on beneath the silence.

I don’t want to copy how others do this my type of work.

I’ve spent years listening to families, children, and my own body.

What I’ve learned didn’t come from templates or trends.

It came from staying curious, staying present, and being willing to slow down.

I trust experience more than formulas now.

And I trust my way of helping people.

The world doesn’t need another identical programme.

It needs people willing to work from truth, not imitation.

👉 Comment "SAFE" to get my FREE Safe Guide for parents of quiet, anxious kids.

Your child isn’t being difficult.
They’re not stubborn.
And they’re not choosing silence.

When a child can’t speak, it’s not a behavior issue,
it’s a safety issue in the brain and body.

Silence = protection, not refusal.

And when we stop pushing for words
and start building safety,
✨ brave voice follows.

Your child’s voice isn’t gone.
It’s waiting to feel safe.

13/01/2026

We’ve tried everything, and nothing seems to change.

Parents often say this after months or years of doing their absolute best. Reading, waiting, encouraging, reassuring, hoping something will shift.

A reflection for today:
What if nothing is failing, but the foundation hasn’t been built yet?

Children don’t move forward when they feel watched or pushed. They move forward when their body and brain feel safe enough to take a risk.

Inside Awesome Powers Academy we don’t start with speech. We start with safety and regulation, and we build from there. The programme is for children aged 8 to 14, and children are placed in the right age group so they are supported at the right developmental level.

On Thursday 15th January I’m hosting a free parent meeting. You’re invited to come and meet us, ask questions, and explore whether this approach fits your family. The Academy only opens three times a year.
