Brothers in Argyll
RESCHEDULED: Friday November 11th 7-9:30pm in Ardrishaig North Hall.
The men’s group Brothers in Argyll will gather for the first time in the north hall on the seaside of the road. Men of all ages are welcome and you don’t need anything more than the clothes on your back; provided they are comfy to sit and move around in. If you think you might be up for a dip in the sea then bring your shorts and a towel but there’s no pressure to do so.
Why attend a men’s group?
So many of us are burdened by conditions like depression, addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, fatigue and a host of other issues that completely reduce our quality of life. To make matters even worse we aren’t talking to each other about most of it! We all have so much in common with one another yet next to no common ground to discuss any of it. For the majority of us there just isn’t the time or the place to be real with one another and as life zooms by, too much is left unsaid and unfelt.
Brothers in Argyll is about breaking down the barriers that life has built within us and between us. These barriers prevent each of us from showing up as we are, unashamed of the thoughts we think and the emotions we feel, however we might express them. Hopefully we’ll have a laugh, do a bit of movement, breathe, chat about the real stuff, maybe stand or swim in the sea and most importantly we will leave having been reminded that we are not alone in what we are going through.
About me:
I’m Chris James, briefly serving as an officer in the Royal Marines I went on to sailing as a navigational officer in the merchant navy, sometime later I sat a desk for a while and sent a lot of emails as a fleet operations superintendent in the city centre of London. Now I am a breathwork facilitator, yoga and meditation teacher and a natural lifestyle coach. These last few years I have done a great deal of deep work on myself with the aid of breathwork, cold water therapy, meditation, running, play, various styles of movement, plant medicines and even just talking to other people about what’s been going on in my life and my mind. In short my life and my experience of it has changed so much I can hardly believe it. I have been seeking for a long time to bring this kind of work to other men and I’m excited to see where Brothers in Argyll might lead us.
