We believe every child is unique and has the power to manage their mental health and regulate their emotions.

We know that many of the children and young people who use Lumi Nova often experience feelings of fear and worry - some of which may stem from bullying. Bullying can also stem from poor mental health.

🌟 This week, let’s empower every child to use their 'Power for Good' by speaking up, supporting one another and creating kinder communities where children know there are people that care, and everyone feels safe and valued.

Helping children face their fears - one game session at a time! 🌟

We're glad to see the real-world impact of Lumi Nova, our NICE-recommended therapeutic game designed to support children facing difficulties with fears or worries. From fears of the dark to bedtime struggles, families like Gabi’s are experiencing meaningful progress - with 97% of children with special educational needs showing improvement or non-worsening after using the app.

Whilst we spend most of the year shifting the needle around children and young people’s mental health, today we’re celebrating the importance of mental health and wellbeing for all.

With everything going on in the world today, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the things that make us all human, we share the same basic needs - safety (physical and psychological), food, shelter, resilience - which are all foundations for wellbeing and good mental health.

🌱 Whether you're a young person, teacher, support worker, or parent - mental health matters at every stage, in every role. There are things we can control, and the things we can’t control - we can only do our best and learn to manage the things within our control.

Let’s seek to understand, welcome, accept and respect the things that make each other unique and let’s keep the conversation going, break the stigma, and remind every young person:

Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership

🎒 As schools go back this week, pupils and parents in Wakefield District are being reminded about the range of mental health support available for children and young people.

The beginning of a school year is an exciting time for many, however some pupils who are starting in a new environment or changing schools may be experiencing feelings of anxiety.

Among the services available to help them is a therapeutic mobile game which has been shown to have a positive impact, particularly among children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Called Lumi Nova, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended immersive game combines a gold-standard therapeutic approach - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - with ethical and immersive gaming delivered via a mobile app and is designed to support children aged seven to 12-years-old.

Families in Wakefield are able to access it via a digital self-signup hub (link to the hub, as well as the full range of mental health support in comments).
